Hi all -

Mark from Build-A-Rama sent us some images of some 3-D building prototypes that he has designed. The actual buildings will have some modifications (i.e. the road piece will be sold seperately - the building piece will end with the sidewalk).

I'm sure mark will want to say more, but he told me the sides and floors of these buildings are made of wood. They will be made to butt up against each other to make a whole street scene.

The floors will run the full length of the building.

These buildings are 1:30 scale - perfect for K&C types!

Remember, these are prototypes. I post the images to give you a feel for what BAR is up to.

The first two images show the prototypes next to the K&C Berlin Tenement building.

These prototypes look pretty good. How does the interior look like?

Is there a European dealer for Build-a-Rama?

Looks great Mark!

I never thought I'd see another building that would dwarf that tenement building. It looks like the all three floors are 1:30 scale, are they?

I look forward to seeing the final product. Will you be displaying the finished product at the Westcoaster Show the weekend of March 5th in Irvine, CA?

I hope so; will you have some available for purchase by then?

Carlos

The prototypes look well done. As usual, another great Build-a-Rama product seems to be in the offering.

I would recommend that two versions have a wall not facing the street be detailed. One building would have the left wall detailed (left corner building or tenement end building) and the other building would have the right wall detailed (right corner building or tenement end building). That way if a series are put together in a street, the end building will look complete. Buildings that are side by side do not need to have detailed sidewalls but the street facing sides should be.

Having a city "canyon" with men battling house to house, what a great diorama that would make. :) Michael

They look great. It will also be great to have them in a damaged version. I'm just wondering about the price on these babies.

Alex - I believe Mark told me the 2 story would sell for around $79 - but I don't think that's confirmed at this point.

I'm sure Mark will be commending soon ...

Pete

I would definitely be interested in the two stories and the streets. Unfortunately, those three stories are just way too big for my space limitations.

Any chance he could make something a la desert, not just Europe. I'm thinking of something similar to what Andy's latest dio looks like. I realize desert scenes may not be too challenging but it would be helpful.

Thank for the feedback.

A few answers:

-We will be offering destroyed versions. At first we will offer a "smoked-out" version. Pictures coming soon.

-We are still working out pricing on these. We will let everyone know once it is confirmed.

-A complete corner building is also in the works.

-We plan to offer these buildings at the West Coaster in Irvine. We are planning something very special for the show. Hope to see you there.

Let me know if I missed anything.

Thanks
Mark

I just gotta say that this forum is soooo cool. I am really pleased with the responses we are getting from the suppliers when we give them feedback. Now its up to us collectors to support their investments into new product and buy the things we ask for. We must also do our part so that they can continue to make the things we desire.;) Michael

P.S.
Yeah, Brad Desert too. Hang in there.

I totally agree with you.

I am very motivated to produce desert dwellings, as I am a big fan of the AK series from K&C.

I hope to expand our new 1:30 range of buildings into various theaters and eras.

Thanks again,
Mark

Mark,

Thanks for the response. I know you have other priorities besides Desert as probably European settings are more popular but I hope that you can do it sometime in the near future.

Mark;

Having just ordered three of the four new K&C AK sets, you can add me to the list of those wanting desert pieces. As for the European theater pieces, they look awesome, more bunkers, blown up buildings, trees, walls, pillboxes, bridges, rocks, etc., bring it on we want it all.

Hi Mark ,How about selling to oversea collectors ,at present your sales are to U.S. ONLY...ern...:(

Hey Mark;

George G. of MinuteMen just brought me the new two story and destroyed two story buildings along with the ruined church and new green tree and winter tree, really nice stuff.:D Just wondering when the three story buildings are coming out and how tall are they giong to be? Hope they'll fit on my shelves.

Thanks, Fred

Hi Guys,

The 3 story is due out in June. We will also have another 2 story version as well. We are also working on a 2 story corner building.

Thanks for the great feedback.

We are also working on an overseas distributor. That should help our international customers.

Thanks again,
Mark
