Here I show the technique for building a wall with the foam board used by architects.
1. take away the paper covering the foam board( if the wall is only visible from the front take away the paper on one side only)
2. choose the old brush that you converted into a mould for imitating stone work
3. press it firmly into the foam in order to get your stone structure
4. when finished give it a primer coat of dark grey
5. start painting the wall in the desired colours
6. picture of the wall put in its place in the barn construction
hope you like this technique, try it ,it is very simple

If this is KAPA Line foam board (which I believe it is), it is not available in the U.S. I've read a few articles and googled the product and there isn't a close equivalent here.. If you're using a different product, what is it?

Thx,

Jim

Getting the backing paper off can be a bit of a bother...Ahhh! gave me the willies! but all scratches will add to the affect....I hope :rolleyes2:

Wayne , tear the paper off and then with a wet cloth ( or your wet finger) rub the underlayer of remaining paper. It will come off easily in little rolls

At one time ,I could buy a blue foam board plastic coated on 2 sides, as he describes. Took off the plastic on one side for painting and mounted it in my train room. Have not found same for a few years now. Used to buy at Lowes ,but they have since changed their brands and type of foam board..Michael

Hi,
never mind KAPA Line it is just a brand. I tried it but the foampart between the paper does not have such a good memory than artist-grade blue foam plus I feel it is much more open cell. I do not like to spent considerably more money on foamboard just for the benefit of having to get rid of the paper cover first before it can be further embossed, engraved or whatever. The only real advantage I can see is that foamboard seems to be much wider available than
- T H I N - sheets of quality blue foam. I either mailorder my sheets of blue foam from an artist store which caters for art/design students etc. or at an art-store when visiting Aachen/Germany.
Sheet sizes start at A4 and up, available width starts at 1mm (!!!) and goes up to almost any size.
Useing a varity of sizes becomes very handy for building models, probs or structures. Better quality for less money in my opinion.
Hope to be able to put up a comparision soon ...

regards
Wolfgang
