Just out from Kalmbach Publishing, the company that produces Fine Scale Modeler magazine, among others, is a new soft cover book. Titled "Building and Detailing Realistic Sherman Tanks", with model builder Jim Wechsler as the author, this book is divided into two parts. The first half has four fine articles on building Sherman tank models from 1/35th kits. The second half, which might be of more interest to the "collector" population, is a gallery of 60 years of Sherman tanks presented in 48 top-notch models. The book is presented entirely in color and the models will give "toy soldier" fans many ideas for displaying their tanks as well as presenting the 60 year breadth of the Sherman as a gun tank. The book is just out and available from Kalmbach, but those with more patience will find these books showing up through major booksellers, often at a discount. It's certainly worth a good long look at the very least!
