Might have missed this discussion on another thread but
Just wondering if the building behind the french wall in 'Retreat to mons' is a buildarama building painted green ?
Also noticed the bales of hay and sandbagged pit........

Och, just go and make it all yourself RH, its better fun that way. :):)
I'm going to see if I can pick up some of this dense foam that all the dio guys are talking about so's I can have a go at making some buildings myself next time I'm home in China (only 2-1/2 weeks to go - and counting).

Ha , Looked at Alex's instructions , now a bit of ikea furniture I can put together but don't think I'd have a 10th of the skill or artistery of Alex, I think he makes it look deceptively easy.... but I might just give it a go...for a laugh:D

Same here, but its like everything else Shuggie, you don't know until you give it a try. I've never tried buildings before, but am willing to give it a go. For true inspiration - just have a look at Debrito's stuff. Would bring a tear to a glass eye, its so good.

especially liked the balconies Alex had on his building , great for displaying the figures....what type of shop would sell the dense foam , hardware or a modelling shop...

I also have asked exactly the same question. Apparently this stuff is available from builders merchants. Hope this helps.

Nick, aka Morbshock on the forum, for a fair price, will make custom buildings for you...I have 3, which I somewhat designed and then told him, to do his thing...Wonderfully detailed and a great artist to work with. Michael

I haven't looked locally but I think the larger hardware stores would have those polystyrene sheets. I believe they are used as wall insulation etc in the US but they're not so common downunder because of our fantastic weather :)

Yes, very common in "home improvement" stores in the USA. The best dense foam is sold as insulation. It comes in various thicknesses, usually in 8' X 10' panels. It is usually a blue or pink color here. This is much preferable to simple packing styrofoam. Many hobbyists use it for scenery, bases, etc. I built my model railroad using 2" foam boards as the base for track and scenery.

They don't use it in Austrailia because it attracts dingos! That, plus the Aussies bought up all the decent weather from China (the current world supplier).
