I have to agree with the other, noli, thats one awesome plane. You're just adding fuel to my warbird crave. I purchased a motion model corsair to get a feel of a wooden plane. I must say I am very impressed. Now I just hope Andy to come through.

Victory, did you buy it from the catalogue or as a custom job. I believe there's quite a difference. From what Louis has indicated, to get them a la K & C will cost you around $500 - 600. My plan is to get a Spitfire from them but probably a custom made K & C type.

Jazz, I refer to it as a motion model corsair simply since thats how we mentioned it here on the forum. I actually found a corsair version, one of the same offered by motion model, on ebay and paid $49.99. Its a gloss finish but it really looks darn good. My only gripe is that it has no landing gear.

I just recieved my wooden warbird. Its a 1/30th scale Ju87 Stuka in a matte finish.

Alexdakar, that bird looks bloody marvelous. Did you get it from the same place as the C-47 or somewhere else?

Alex:

Wunderbar!

I am contemplating on a custom built 1/30 Fiesler Storch to go with my Afrika Corps. Attached are photos of my plastic storch model to be used as sample. I want to go one step beyond. Looking for supplier who could do a carved out interior with clear canopy.

Meanwhile, I have not received word from my brother-in-law re estimate for 20 pcs of 1/30 scale C-47 Dakota. I'll update the team as soon as I get the price.

On several planes (Hawker Hurricane, P40 Curtis Hawk and Spitfire Mark V Clipped wing) Andy did sliding canopies or open cockpits with detailed interiors. These were really quite nice. By the way, I just received two extremely rare (I believe one of a kind) King & Country warbirds: A 1/32 scale F14 Tomcat (its huge!) and a 1/32 scale Junkers JU88 Nightfighter. I hope to show them to the tri-state crowd next Thursday at Larry Lo's get together.

I ordered this one from Motionmodels. I'm quite pleased with it.

Louis you've got me curious. What are the dimensions on the tomcat?

The F14 is 24 inches long by 22and 1/2 inches wide (when the adjustable wings are fully spread out). Its much larger than the Junkers JU88 (a two engine night fighter about the size of a Dornier Bomber).

Now thats a nice size. I'd like to expand upon my very limited plane collection but if I do I'd like to stick to just one scale. 1/32 is just about right. Its nice to be able to compare sizes of different planes when everything is the same scale. That is lost when you have a mix-match of different scales. If K&C ever returns to the warbirds, I hope they consider a consistent scale, perferrably the same of that of there figures.

I think I can say with confidence that if Andy returns to making Warbirds, not only will he make them in 1/32 scale, he will make an entire series of pilots, ground crew and related vehicles, this time in matt finish. I think the while series will be amazing. I can already vouch for the planes, I now have 48 of them. The old wood vehicles were also great, and I bet polystone ones will be equally terrific. We all just need to see what Andy has in store for us . . .

I'm about to start the process of ordering one of these airplanes from Motion Models. I'm looking to get either a Spitfire or a Hurricane in the desert cameo, which I'm probably more partial to at this point. Of course, they're both custom jobbies, so we'll have to see what develops.

Louis:

It will be great if Andy comes out with planes that were part of the BoB & Afrika Korps series. An L-4 Piper Cub Observation Plane will be great for the GI's at the Bulge. A German Fieseler Storch in desert camo would also be a good complement to the Afrika Korps. Clear canopies would look great and natural.

1/32 should be good to match the K&C warbirds. I just unpacked my K&C Cosair that I bought a year ago and it doesn't fit to well with the 1/30th scale plane but its close.

Thanks. Alex, do the K & C soldiers go better with the 1/30 or 1/32. From your picture, 1/30 looks good.

I think the 1/30 is slightly bigger to use with the figures. But I was worried that the 1/32 models would be slightly smaller for the figures. I took a chance and went with 1/30th.
