I am a new collector of Wilson Edward soldiers and have started this thread as a place for other collectors of this company to post news, pictures, and discussion about any of their ranges of soldiers. I have begun collecting the Boxer Rebellion series and also have an interest in their WWI Gallipoli, New Guinea and Middle East lines. I have started an album of what I now have (2 figures) and will add to the album as I pickup new additions. So feel free to jump in.

Here are 2 comparison shots for style and scale using examples from my collection. I tried to pick comparable subjects.

Wilson Edward come painted in a matte finish but are available in satin or gloss upon request.

Randy, I recently purchased several Wilson Edward kits and today finished the assembly and primer painting. I really like the quality and the level of detail. Should make painting a real pleasure. I'll post some pics when their finished.

I also noticed the size difference. I seems to me that the matte figures are always a little larger that their glossy counterparts.
Their both suppose to be 54mm.

Thanks for joining in. I'll look forward to your pictures. What subject did you start with?

Randy

Randy, the kits I bought are all from the Boer War series. That's one of the main interest of my collecting. I must admit that the WW I Turks I also really liked. :D

Most all of the Wilson Edward figures appeal to me because they cover more "off the wall" armies and /or countries. :)

Totally agree there.
I got some kits a while back, but still haven't got ropund to painting them up yet (although I have assembled and primered some)
I got the Gallipoli gun +crew and officer, with a view to painting them up in gloss, and also some of the SWAT figures, along with the RUC officer, which I intend to do in matt.

Great detail on these figures.

Must dust of the paint brushes....

As always your taste is quite refined. I have some of these figures on my wish list, would go for the WWI figures...in gloss!

Cheers,
Paulo

Randy,

Thanks for posting this very useful image for the comparison of figures.

The matte figure of Wilson Edward does to look rather impressive.

Best, Raymond.

:)

Do these come in kits or can you buy them fully assembled?

I shot some comp photos today for Harry comparing the size of East of India and Wilson Edward Boxer Rebellion figures and thought I would share them.

East of India Royal Navy Officer with Sword
Wilson Edward Royal Welsh Fusiliers Officer

Hi,

I've been a fan of Wilson Edwards for a few years, and have been most impressed with the figures that Craig and Jason Pearse have been producing. Now that you can all see them in full colour on the Treefrog site, I'm sure you will be as impressed as I am. My joy is painting toy soldiers, and being able to obtain castings of the figures is wonderful, so if you wish to see others in the range, check them out on my website Toy Soldiers On-Line Gallery http://www.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/ Goto Australian, Europe, germany, France pages.

regards, John

Hi John! Good to see you posting! Having seen John's Wilson Edward collection first hand, I can confirm that they are indeed fantastic figures.

John

It was your website where I first saw Wilson Edward figures and now that Treefrog is carrying them I have become a collector. The figures are first rate and Craig & Jason are great to work with.

Your figure painting and website have been an inspiration for many of us for a long time.

So welcome aboard and I hope you'll post photos on Treefrog of your latest projects.

Hello John,

A Very Warm Welcome to the Forum.

I frequently refer to your excellent website and have done so for several years now.

It contains a wealth of information on nearly all aspects of military miniatures.

Best, Raymond.:)

Welcome aboard John.

Some years ago, I had you do up several Mountford guns and crews for my collection. As the others have already stated, your website had been a wealth of information for the toy soldier collectors. :)
