Camel Corps Prices are Soaring (1 Viewer)

Trophy Camels invariably go for high prices. It has been that way for many years.

I should add that the ones that go for higher prices seem to be the later ones. I think prices for the earlier ones are not as high.

I just looked at the prices realized for Camel Corps figures at the Old Toy Soldier Auction on November 13. The Camels and riders were of the older style and they sold for an average of $65 per Camel and rider, excluding the buyer commission.

Brad,

I agree that the later Trophy Camel Corps sets tend to sell better than the earlier ones.

If my observation is right, the sets with bases attract more competitive bidding. I have a personal preference for the sets with bases (more full bodied sculpting and more stable...IMHO).

For the set that sold, the base looks like the Trophy Dragon Crest style.

Raymond.

Hi Raymond

I prefer the sets with bases but you do have to pay a higher price, the one shown was indeed Dragon Crest.

Looks like an early set sold recently on EbayUSA for a very good price but it was a very rare 4 piece Screw gun set. I will have a very similar set for sale at the next London Show:wink2:

$218 is actually cheap. I have seen some of these go for around $275. In comparison the screw set looks like a bargain as does the set that Carl Hoegermeyer had at the Hackensack Show.

Peter listed another Camel last night. I'm sure it will sell for a high price, as well.

Is this one mislabeled ? What is it!

Hi Brad

I love my Big Box 8 camel screw gun set that you found for me, at a very sensible price I must add :wink2: :salute:: I didn't realise an early 4 camel set would fetch such a high price

All the best

In that case, I will entertain offers north of $1,000 for these guys :)

That is the very early U2F set you have there Jim, the set that sold on Ebay was the Trophy set SEQ 3 which tend to command the higher price. Most U2F sets achieve less than their Trophy equivalent unless the U2F set was never reintroduced in the Trophy range.....such as the Oxen drawn Tonga wagon :wink2:.......a version of which is currently on EbayUSA

Cheers

I bought this set from James Hillestad ,circa 1995, which he called "Trophy" figures.

You just never know Martyn. That Big Box is wonderful and was glad to help you.

Brad

Ones like you have Jim recently went for about $65 per camel and rider at OTSA, as noted earlier in this thread.

Martyn, since we are discussing eBay matters, is the Camel Corps Gun Team complete or a partial set? There's also a Royal Marine Field Gun set. Is that complete? Thanks.

Hi Brad

Camel Corps set is complete, the "Royal Marine Field Gun set" is almost complete but has an incorrect description, it should be advertised as ROYAL ARTILLERY FIELD GUN BATTERY and the ammo boxes, and more importantly the Palm tree, appear to be missing from the auction.

All the best

Martyn:)

I guess the question is whether early Trophy came without the trademark on the underside of the base.
