Can anyone please tell me roughly How many of the BRITAINS

"Through The Hole" vignette sets (20008) were actually produced
or for what period of time they were released for.... ?

Year released 2007.

A Closing Stages of Isandlwana set (20024) released in 2008 Limited Edition of 600 sold for a staggering £431.00 + £12.00 p&p only this week on e bay... and there were only 3 bidders. Amazing or what !... {eek3} I personally think that this is one of the nicest sets Britains has ever produced. Although I do like the look of (20150) overrun British 24 th Foot Ambulance Ltd to 500 sets.

The set "Through The Hole"unfortunately was NOT certificated.... :rolleyes2: Was this because it was one of the very first sets produced by Britains.

Also does anyone know what has been the most expensive AZW Series.....ZULU/ RORKE'S DRIFT/ISANDLWANA/24 th Foot set so far
both retail and on the secondary market.... ? {sm3}

Answers on a Postcard please.....

Okay you can just Post here to make it easier if you want... No prizes I am afraid....

Look forward to your replies. !

My best guess for the hole in the wall would be similar to the number of original hospitals released. I will check the original brochure for AZW but my guessmate would be not a lot. The original hospital and the hole in the wall sets almost never showup on the secondary market ie ebay. Other rare items are the furniture for the hospital and some of the collector club figs.... I saw the original hospital go for over $800 before the new release as it was hard to do a rorke drift setup without one. The other issue is that wbritains did not do another release of hole in the wall with the new hospital so that set has become a bottleneck for new collectors along with the furniture...

I would say on the retail market the most expensive sets would have been Melville and Coghill sets from Modelzone. Not sure about the most expensive secondary market figure. I know Cold Steel hit some high prices along with the three mealie bag hand to hand sets.

The original hospital went for around £1,200 - £1,300 at auction on Ebay some time back.

Hardly surprising that WB's released the second edition of the hospital to cash in.

Feel sorry for all those "investors" who paid over the odds.

Personally I would buy 7 of the new FL 24th figures than pay silly money for one older set. That will come up again now on Ebay. Once people see the price paid.

I am sure Modelzone Cold Steel went for around £800 on e bay on a couple of occasions 2 years ago I don't think it is going for that much now

It is amazing what the price of an item can rise to when a couple of bidders really want an item.

No doubt the most expensive original price, was the gun limber and greater if you get someone to modify one by removing 2 of the figures. The next would be the 2 buildings and shortly the ambulance. Just love this series, but glad I am not trying to pick it up on the secondary market. Robin.

I think most of the premium is in the first 30 or so numbered sets, modelzone exclusives and collector club figs. Collectors and speculators interest would be highest on those ones. The rest likely have the same value as MSRP or trade at a slight discount. Limited value for the Zulus outside of the collector club and Ospry series hurts overall value. So maybe $6,000 - $12,000 depending whether you sold as a group or individually. The last wbritains AZW estate sale I purchased was 30 cents on the dollar... Hope it helps...

Well you certainly have a nice collection. I personally have only been collecting for around the last 18 months and it is surprizing how collections increase & add up. Not that we collector's collect because of monetary value but because we like the sets, the detail, or the series we are collecting.

I roughly added up my collection and it came close to £3500 around 45-50 figures/sets.

I agree with the previous comments
The Modelzone, Osprey, and collector's Club figures are the ones that seem to attract the attention. Most of the other sets although they don't tend to lose their value stay close to their retail value but will probably increase over time.
The collector's Club series are upwards of £50 plus. The Induna Warrior 50023C has been going for around £100 plus
Modelzone are anything from around £75 plus, although the earlier sets go for a lot more such as Cold Steel.
Major Smith on Horseback 20100 is selling for around £89.99 although I picked one up for £63.00 + p&p recently. I also managed to get hold of Through The Hole & Closing Stages of Isandlwana recently.

I think there were 400 original Hospital sets released.
