Not being a native born Candaian I don't have much background info on different regiments. I do know that they are not covered all that well by TS manufacturers. Mostly it is the R.C.M.P. and that is it.

I was doing some browsing (mainly becuase of Bernards Irish Hussars) and came up with these which I think would make pretty nice TS.

If anyone has anymore regiments/photos they can add that would be much appreciated.

The vast majority of Canadian regiments uniforms were based on their British counterparts, in many cases being indistinguishable, therefore any British figure can be used ,or, where necessary, painted to represent Canadian units.
One specific Canadian unit produced by Mountford Metal Miniatures is a Canadian Militia gun team, both in winter dress, with the gun and limber mounted on sledges, and summer dress with the gunners in tunics and pill box caps and the gun and limber on wheels.

Thanks for the info trooper. I guess that will make things easier for me :D I did like the uniqueness of the trooper in the hussar jacket and dragoon helmet

What period is that artillery unit ?Does anybody know what units were in the Boer War and were they militia units.I don't think Canada had a regular army at that time but I may be wrong.

Wiped has a great section on Canadian Army units which lists all the regular and reserve units with web links. Canada has some very interesting regiments etc. Most appear to be modeled after British units such as the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, British Columbia Dragoons etc. Britains produced a old set of the Governor generals Horse Guards. Ducal and Bill the Bandsman are the only Toy Soldier providers that I am aware of that currently produce Canadian army troops in ceremonial dress.

Classic Britains had a couple of regiments in the catalog, if I'm not mistaken. I'll have to look through the Opie tome to see, but I'm pretty sure they had more than the Fort Henry Guards. Wasn't there a Princess of Wales' Own hussar regiment? I'll have to look...

The artillery set is 1897. At the time of the Boer War the Canadian military consisted of a small Permanent Force comprised of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, one battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment and the Royal Canadian Artillery which acted as training staff for the Volounteer Militia.
The troops sent to South Africa were the 2nd (Special Service) Btn Royal Canadian Regiment, the Royal Canadian Dragoons, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Canadian Mounted Rifles, Strathcona's Horse, a field brigade of the Royal Canadian Artillery and a field hospital.
