Thought I would post a little 54mm figure duo made by a New Zealand model soldier maker from the 1970s/1980s called Francis Turton figures.
The makers actual name was Bylle however they used Francis, her mothers name, as folks would get bound up by her name.
An absolutely lovely lady and very talented.

The castings very very basic with little detail which was painted on by Byllee much in the style of Kathleen Ball of Greenwood and Ball.
Scale was constant to 54mm.

Byllee passed away a number of years ago and many managed to get her castings.
Bylee sold her figures in a painted state.

Here is a casting undercoated and based on wooden base as is my style.
As I have a completed example I may offer this to some individual.

And the painting all done in Army Painter acrylics over a Humbrol white enamel undercoat.

Thanks for posting these Rod. Its good to see some interest in older figures, particularly those of local manufacturers.

I was in Wanaka last year and there is a large automotive/aviation/militaria/toy museum crammed full of stuff. There were lots of old Britains, however, there was also a small 54mm diorama, with figures I couldn't identify. They look a little like Chota Sahib/ Series 77. I am wondering if these were manufactured locally in New Zealand? Possibly Maori Wars?

This is the best image I could take.

Thank you for taking your time to reply.
These are great figures.
They are indeed Series 77 from their Canadian Militia Series

There have been some seriously great sculptors here in NZ for the commercial market such as Phil Ealden and Andy Cairns. Andy is a prolific sculptor who lives in Chrischurch and his brand or line of figures is A C Models. Many scales from 54mm to busts.
Then of course we have in Greytown/Wellington two good old toy soldiers manufactures from Imperial and Regal.

Great work Rod, and thank you for introducing us to Ms. Bylle's figures!:salute::

Thank you Louis.
I will be showing more of her work in the future.

Here we are Louis two further examples of Byllee's work including a couple of sheets of uniform data that she sent to me in the early 1970s.

Both figures were changed somewhat.
The Armed Constabulary guy had a Scottish style bonnet added whilst the Auckland Militia guy had pack, water bottle, haversack and bayonet added.

Thanks Rod. That is indeed them.

Regarding your second set of figures. Have you thought of painting them gloss? Those colours would look great in gloss.
