I am working on a figure of the Frenchman Caron d' Hevilly, Colonel of Hussars and a staff officer.

There are plenty of images available of his uniform available on the internet, but precious little about the man.

Can anyone add some details to this soldier's career?

Actually Caron d'Hevilley has always been a total mystery to me. I have many books on Napoleon's staff and he is not mentioned in any of them. There is nothing on the Web either on him (even on the French side). I have that figure from Le Cimier from a painting of Louis Gauffier which represents this officer but again he is a ghost...

Yes, the tricolor cuff or "brassard" in French indicates that this officer is an ADC to a General-in-Chief.

and stated as : ... according to the portrait made by Louis Gauffier in Napoli in 1801 Caron D'Hevilley
but a that time the colonel is Pajol

others sources about Gauffier painting made in Napoli, speak about a Baron Général d'Hervilley

One other theory is that the personnage on the painting could be Jean-Pierre-Joseph Bruyère ou Bruguière from the 6th Hussar who was ADC to Berthier in 1800 at the time that painting was produced...But again no confirmation...

Colonel aide de camp de général en chef 1801 a 75mm kit and the website is a great painting guide and check out the lace on the sleeves!!

Yes I used that figure as a painting guide.

The lace on the figure is fantastic. I couldn't match that in 54mm. I dry brushed the lace on the trouser tops but just painted gold around the sleeves. My eyes aren't good enough to do that in 54mm and having problems finding a gold colour in acrylic that 'flows' decently off the brush. I might try Vallejo air which is made for airbrushing.

I believe the Rose figure itself dates back to 1968- not bad sculpt for a figure nearly fifty years old!

Just a point of interest with that 75mm figure. I think the hat is on the wrong way? Rose Miniatures seem to have used this as a reference.
