Looks nice Don! What's it made of? If I were you, I would weather it a little bit, maybe add some battle damage or some moss/litchen as ivy climbing the walls. The construction looks fantastic though!
Thank you for your comments as well as Sabre's. It is made from 1/4" MDF and sprayed with "stone effects" paint and then given a stone gray wash. Unfortunately, my photo skills are not to the mark - there are walkways behind the walls and battlements. I like the idea of the moss and battledamage - great suggestion. I am not a "castle era" collector but had a lot of enjoyment doing the project for my friend.
Appreciated your feedback!!! don
Many thanks for the feedback. I am basically your British Victorian and Edwardian soldier collector. When I started out I bought what I thought looked appealling but as time went on, as you know, everyting looks good. So I narrowed my interests to those eras. Even at that it includes Zulu's, Sudan, Delhi Durbar and heading into WW1. So now I am trying to be very selective within that realm - economics is a harsh reality.
Kind regards, Don
Of course, you don't have to collect medieval figures, to appreciate or use a castle backdrop. It suits Victorian Brits, for example, and you can always use a middle European castle as a backdrop for Prussians or Austrians. A section of wall with some Fachwerk (half-timbering) looks good for Napoleonics, too, maybe a little garrison scene.
I agrre that is a nice piece of work.
But for people like myself who can,t do the above, one of the best foam pieces ever done is the Barzo castle.
I,m not much of a medeival guy, but Barzo,s piece ranks right along side Conte,s church.

I saw that Barzo castle in the lobby at last year's Chicago Show, and man was it impressive. It was also very affordable. If I remember correctly, you could get a pretty good sized starter castle (I think it included four walls, four corner towers, a gate tower and a keep) for around $175. I'm thinking about getting one for Christmas for my son when he is about 5 years old.
The Barzo Castle is unbelievable!! We do not see items like that in my small rural area of Ontario. A great object for inspiration. Thank you for posting the picture!!
