Indeed Jeff, that title has escaped my reading list; I can't imagine why. Of course on full auto, that is a fair amount of silver. Needless to say, reality is the last thing our action movies are about. So using a hammer against a Lycanthrope would fit right in. It's just that all that ammunition wasting is so noisy, but then that fits right in as well.Bill,
You are obviously not familiar with the recently published 'Military Encounters with Lycanthropes'.
Chapter 3 goes in to great detail, highlighting the potential difficulties with Werencounters and offers up a number of tactical solutions, one of which it may suprise you is (and I paraphrase here), 'Select F/A and let loose with everything you've got.'
I appreciate that 'Dog Soldiers' has the usual healthy dose of atristic licence spread throughout, but in real life, military studies have shown that Lycanthropes move at great speed, and it is therefore to be expected that a good deal of ammunition will hit everything bar the intended target.
It's good to note that the film acurately captured an extract from Chapter 5, which covers the 'out of ammo' scenario, and suggests a number of readily available items which can effectively be used against lycanthropes, such as the 'hammer to the claws' tactic.
So, pretty close to reality all things considered.
