We had a bunch of these in the shop. This was the worst one. I got creative with this and I will post a how to later. This has been a favorite with me but, sadly many are in disrepair. The shipping monkeys destroyed them in shipping. The metal is very soft. Mass and momentum being introduced well,,,,,, The axles usually broke. Also people lifted them from the box wrong and all kinds of damage. One of the most wonderful pieces ever made by K&C.

Mike DeMarco restored one for Ray (nmrocks). The key is putting a stronger metal in the axles. That is what he did. Also, don't ship it in the original box but wrap it, as I did, in several layers of bubble wrap.

nice job Michael...
lots of damage on that one...
really nice job...
I have repaired 2 of them...
never felt the need to replace the axle...
really wanted to stay "stock" with original parts...
I just straightened it out and repainted it a little...
they look great and display nicely with the original axle...
I personally think the axle gets damaged in shipping...
when the mailman throws the box on the ground...

Actually the original packaging is perfect if you split the foam behind the chariot. Much easier to get out of the packaging without damaging it. I have done five of these now. This one got the brass tube axle. It is super strong. If anyone wants theirs repaired I am their man.:salute::

Great job !

Michael mate,
Outstanding job cobber. I can remember back to the 2010 West Coaster Show when I purchased this set AE003 from you and on your advice carried it home on the plane on my lap to avoid damage from LA to Melbourne, a 17 hour flight. Beautiful Set.
Cheers Howard

Actually, it's not as I shipped one in the packaging and I had to have Mike DeMarco redo it. When I shipped it again it was shipped in about five layers of bubble wrap.

Thank you I am going to offer this as part of the repair services with an all new brass axle and repaint.
:salute::

Hi, I have a similar damaged chariot. Could you
repair it for me please.
I'll ship it to you.
