Does anyone know of any Charles Hall figures for sale anywhere ?? I had several a few years back...they were UNDOUBTEDLY the finest models I've ever owned. Now have two Highlanders at attention shoulder arms left. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,eBay item#250224811488 Black Watch Royal Highland Regt.-1914 is the first I've been fortunate enough to view-the photo is pretty good-good enough to see that the Piper's bag is actually shaped like a GHB pipebag and is properly tucked beneath the player's arm! These do look superb uncled, you're lucky I'm typically skint.( also note that they appear NRFB.) Best, oldboy

I'm fortunate enough to have several at attention. Not all were painted by Charles Hall himself, but those that were are superior, particularly the facial features. Must admit that I try to emulate him when painting.

John,
How do you do it? I wait out by the mailbox every day, but it's hit or miss whether the gal presents me with a...present. I appreciate the dedication, and am waiting impatiently to be invited to the new room addition to your home, specially built for our hobby:cool:. I can't wait to smash the champagne bottle against the corner, and listen to the crowds respond to the dedication of the "Mike Brady" Wing!

John,
Maybe yourself and/or Uncled could give some background on Charles Hall. I'm not familiar with him other than these photos. I love the detail and the painting!

Well,hmmmm...Charles Hall Edinburgh is pretty much the extent of my ken, believe the eBay Seller of Robert Burns & The Gordon 5 stated that he opened shop in Edinburgh in 1978...
With any luck, some kindly and knowledgable soul(s) will appear.

John,
Well then, I'll be more than happy to open my toy soldier encyclopedia and do some invesigation, which I love to do, rather than actual work. I'll post the results here, since this is the perfect place for it
Thanks,
Mike

Excellent ! (rubbing his hands together) :D meanwhile here a search there a search and I've run across an Article by James Hillestad on Sherlock Holmes,in which are pictured no less than 4 Holmes & Watson sets ,one kilted  and from which I quote, lamentably "the late Charles Hall of Scotland,"
Now whatever you do,don't tell Jazzeum ,but eBay #380063971198,Mini Collection..from Bill the Bandsman ,of Charles Hall figures containing TWO Jazz Bands  7 other diverse and MAGNIFICENT Bands & a number of character figures, including an A&SH Bugler that has me wondering whether I mislabeled my sentry  Stunning and well worth a gander!
Wonder what they're getting for kidneys these days ? Any offer in the neighborhood of $3500.00,seriously considered ;)

Boerboy -this thread had slipped to p.2. :) I bump it for your attn. .I couldn't agree more about these rare and magnificent glossies. Sad indeed re the Salvation army band -though I acquired a "chippy" but charming Lady playing piano.
You may find the mention of the eBay collection interesting-especially as the Seller has relisted several times and it is presently available.

Hello John,

Thank you for letting me know. Nice selection from the Bandsmen but really not even close to be complete : only app. 140 pieces over 350 made. The price is steep as well :$25 a piece I would not mind to buy them but for more "reasonable" price :)

I heard that the only commission CH company received were 2 jazz bands incorporating about 500 pieces, from an American customer! No further details.

I would like learn more about the person (mentioned by Bill Bandsman)- Hank Anton who bought majority of CH molds... I think Hank was from CO...Maybe somebody in our forum knows him.

Alex
