Yo Troopers, just spotted these on ebay USA, man its made my day seeing this box with this stunning pair of Sherlock Holmes & Dr Watson I do have the pair but never knew how they were boxed which makes it special for me. Think the seller has got it wrong about the designer, Chas designed all his own models, maybe the guy designed the box. Wish I could get a bet with the bookies, of all the millions of people on ebay I know which collection these will end up in;) maybe he will leave me the box in his will lol:D.

Bernard,

Thanks to your PM, I snagged these exact figures last week via a trade with our good friend Tom. I have always been a huge Sherlock Holmes fan (I just finished re-reading my 2 volume complete Sherlock Holmes compendium for the umpteenth time) and I recently got my 5 year old son interested in the old Basil Rathbone movies.

Thanks again for the heads up!

Louis

For Holmes fans, there was a huge annotated version of the Holmes stories issued a couple of years ago. Didn't get it but looked very thorough. I still have my complete Holmes from when I was a kid.

Maybe it's meant that he provided a concept to Stadden, who then executed it. Interesting that these were sold through The Tinder Box, I remember it, it was a mall chain tobacco shop, that also sold other items like these, but also beer steins, shaving supplied (I still have and use a shaving mug that I got there). I don't recall seeing the figures, but I'm not surprised that they sold them. Very nice piece of Staddeniana!

Prost!

Don't know whether you are familiar with Sarum Soldiers, Louis, but it might interest you to check their website www.sarumsoldiers.net as they make several sets of Sherlock Holmes. The latest one is of Holmes and Moriaty fighting above the Reichenbach Falls which has the rock face and ledge plus the waterfall as a senic design.

I took these at the June show and thought the set was rather good.

Imrie-Risley also have a series of Sherlock Holmes kit figures in their catalog.

And may I add, I enjoyed Jeremy Brett as Holmes, too, and Edward Hardwicke as Watson, just as enjoyable as Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.

Prost!

Thanks, I'll have to look out for these, they look really cool. I have one Trophy Holmes and Watson set, and I picked up the Trophy Holmes and Watson Handsom Cab set a couple of years ago, but passed it along to Tom Dubel, who in turn passed it along to Brad.

Louis,

Didn't realize I had you to ultimately thank so thanks.

I see Sarum from time to time on eBay.

Actually, no, not Louis to thank!

Long story short. Louis got me that set, short time later, Jim Hillestad found one and sent me (along with invoice!!), then finally, I came across yours Brad but needed repairs. I grabbed it for you since I knew you had a ace repair gent!

SO, in circles, 3 went through my hands, one is still here. I can't for the life of me remember what happened to Number 2.........hmm. must have sold/traded it.
