Hi Zach,

I am planning on attending the Chicago Show and I am pleased to learn you will be experiencing the show for the first time. I look forward to meeting you. Be sure to find the Treefrog Room as it is an excellent place to meet other Treefroggers.

Each floor of the hotel is much like a labyrinth, so make certain you find a hotel map and a listing of vendors. Such maps can be found in the lobbies of the fourth and fifth floor. These maps are quickly snatched up by show participants, so do not delay finding one.

I also suggest you carry a small pocket sized notebook or notepad in order to make notes regarding room numbers and vendors you might wish to visit more than once. The hotel "labyrinth" is such that if you see something for sale that interests you, but want to think about it and later decide you want to purchase it, you might never find the appropriate room again.

Make certain you pace yourself regarding purchases. In short, do not spend all your budget too quickly. You never know what you might find in the next room. I think it also helps if you construct a wish list prior to the show. The wish list can help remind you of your priorities and help you stay focused on searching for the items you most want. However, if possible, plan to reserve some funds for the unexpected find. If, on Sunday, you still have some budget remaining, you can usually find and purchase items of interest in the official Sunday show.

Above all, meet other collectors and have fun. It is a rare experience to have several days with other people who share your passion for toy soldiers. It is an experience you will never forget and one you will want to repeat year after year.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hey Boys,
The first round is on Zach and the second round is on Louis. Maybe the third round is on Brad??^&grin^&grin This sounds like my kind of show.:):) 21 hours in flight is now sounding good.
Looking forward once again to meeting some new collectors.
Cheers Howard

The boys from down under could empty your bankroll quickly ^&grin

Total bummer. Federal judge just scheduled a trial the week of the show. As the lawyer, I better be there. Praying more than ever for a settlement! Decent chances so I'm keeping hope alive and not cancelling my room

Thanks Pat!
I am looking forward to it and meeting everyone.

Hearing on that is wed. Fingers are crossed! The defense attorney out of the blue, asked if we could move the trial date. I played all coy and said, "Awwww, fine"! hahaha

Now up to the judge

Hummmmm ..... wouldn't it be nice if the Judge was a Toy Soldier Collector???? :rolleyes2:
.... Or would that put you in a dangerous conflict-of-interest position? {sm2}

Here is hoping that all works out. Last year was my first Chicago and I can't wait to be back there again.
I will be in the Minuteman Toy Soldier Room / Booth with George G. so (everyone) be sure to stop by and identify yourself. :salute::

UGH - looking more and more like this isn't going to happen. I am going to hold onto my room for a little longer and I've been crossing my fingers so much that they hurt!

If I can't make it, who wants to be my personal shopper?!?!?! ^&grin

Zach,
Happy to do it for you as my wife has already threatened me on buying anything else, so i am truly going to try and go for the social aspect this year. Just shoot me a list of what you are looking for and feel free to wire me your budget in cash, i can take the ipad and we can facetime on a room trading basis!!! EDIT - we will need to provide for shipping costs too !!!!

Going to a toy soldier show like Chicago and pledging not to buy anything is like inviting an alcoholic into a bar and asking him not to have a drink.

yeah, but he can hide some goodies in for himself and just tell his wife he bought them for me!!!!

Aint that the truth. I figure thought that with your appetite for Russian figures, that might keep me so busy I would forget about myself!
