Some of you asked what I'd gotten in Chicago. I went to the show hoping to find some Napoleonic Soldiers of the World, some Hiriart toy soldiers, and good castings. I had no luck with the castings, and the only Napoleonic Soldiers of the World available were picked up by someone else while I hesitated. I did find some WWI glossies. So here goes.

The first photo is Britain Premier Set #8924 German 7.7 gun & limber

The 2nd photo is Britain Set #41105 British 18 pdr. gun & limber

The 3rd photo is Britain Premier Set #41029 British "6" howitzer

Those are great. I especially like the Brit 6 pounder and the crew in shirtsleeves.

Nice artillery sets Russell. I always enjoy all periods of artillery. John

They'd look great in your revamped man-cave :D

Did you get anything at the show that you think we might like to see?

Hi Russell,

Your Chicago Show acquisitions are really nice! One of these days, I must add some more WWI figures to my collection!

Thanks for sharing your Chicago loot with us. It is always fun to return home with some new and prized possessions!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Well actually guys, my purchases did not stop there. I also got a few Hiriart sets . Below are some photos of one of them. They're nine to a set. These are WWII Germans.

And hello Vamp. It was nice meeting you at the show.

Haven't really found a spot for them yet. Maybe I'll use some of John's cave .

Hey nice meeting you too. Nice finds. Was that from the fellow in Kentucky?

I bought them from a fellow named Buzz Thorp. I think he's from Illinois.

Cheers

Yes, Buzz is from Illinois. I don't have any Hiriart sets. My friend Bob has most of the sets. I like your choice of figures. I did not get much but will do pics later. John

Nice seeing Vamp at Chicago.

Nice sets, I do like WWI Glossy sets. Nice finds.

Hi Russell,

Thanks very much for sharing your recent Chicago acquisitions with us.

You managed to get some very nice glossy WWI sets. Good for you.

Best Regards, Raymond.:)

Hiriarts are very nice. I have a few sets I am planning to sell because of room for other options (one of them is a lovely tiger hunting scene in India, with an elephant).

Those are great sets, Russell,
congratulations!
All of the Britains Premier sets are nice and have a great glossy finish.

I recently purchased a Hiriart set of Irish Guards at the slope full ,Slade Wallace equipment , 10 men with officer on parade. The castings are excellent, reminds one of Imperial, high quality. Also, a Tunstill set from the early '70s, Guards at sling arms, probably an Andrew Rose casting. Casting is fine, full equipment, painting a bit substandard, the faces are a chalky white, am having them repainted a more "pre-war" shade w/ chinstraps, etc.
