Went to Chickamauga Battlefield and nearby reenactment 19-21 September for the 150th anniversary. A few pics of both. The viewing area for the battle was a bit far. Great for a panoramic view, but too far to see the "troops" up close.

Some pics of the NPS battlefield. Chickamauga was the first battlefield park, established in 1984.

Park Rangers did a lot of "walk and talks" describing the battle.

This collector was able to acquire an original 10 pdr Parrot rifle from the Loomis Battery. 5 of 6 guns captured at Chickamauga and recaptured at Atlanta by Sherman. Guns were returned to Michigan after the war. Some remain property of the state and some, including this piece, were auctioned off. The gun shown here was bought from a west coast collector in 1990. On display for the week outside the visitor center.
Claud Fuller collected thousands of military weapons 1900-mid 50s. He donated the collection to the NPS in '54. Here are a few of the hundreds on display at the visitor center.
