Thought I would post some pics of my growing naval model collection, mostly by SD Model Makers and aircraft from JJD, KC and TGM. Chris

The USS Gambier Bay, escort carrier sunk by IJN gun fire, only USN carrier to be sunk in this manner during WWII. She is 1:/350 scale.

Beautiful collection, Chris. The USS Panay is a really neat choice and the Akagi is gorgeous. -- Al

How long is that magnificent model of the Akagi? It looks huge!!{sm4}

Louis, she's approx 30". THe detail is amazing and the pics really don't due justice. It took 9 months to receive from order to finish. The Gambier Bay was completely destroyed in shipment and SD sent a replacement in 30 days. I was heart broken when the original arrived, but all turned out well. Chris

Awesome models, Chris.

The Akagi model strikes me as particularly nice.

Does the manufacturer offer them in different levels of detail?

Evening Chris ...

I just got back (recovering) :p from the Chicago T.S. Show and saw this thread (and your message). If you see any photos I am the good looking and smart one in George's room and booth ... {sm4}

WOW ... WOW ... WOW ...{sm3} Simply magnificent, gorgeous, superb, totally AWESOME and more praises that I can't think of at this moment.
What a wonderful collection.

I have about 10 model ships myself, but none (yet) from SD. Some I built myself, others I got from custom made artisans in Boston and Mystic Conn.
I can post them here or in a separate thread (as not to steal your thread).

The Akagi is (obviously) my favorite but the Gambier Bay is a very, very close second.

Color me jealous of your great treasures !!
