The various craft shops like Micheals and AC Moore have put all their Christmas village stuff on sale, usually 50% off. You can get scenic elements like winter trees and stone or brick roads and walkways. Some figures are adaptable for 19th Century refugees, nurses, camp-followers and parade spectators. I've some at Home Depot too. Your mileage may vary in the UK and Australia.

Thanks Scott. I have to go to home Depot for a new caulking gun tomorrow. I'll check it out.

The sale figure at Michaels are a resin that can be sawn or drilled. The figures at Home Depot are harder, yet brittle. There'd a set of two elder folks under an unbrella that make good 1800s refugees. There's also a set with a balloon man and a flower peddler. A few changes and you have a CW male sulter, and a petite nurse. Some figures need the holiday gifts cut of filed away and replaced with plin bundles. Micheal's has a 6-pack with a tophatted "Bobby", several men that could be workers, an "Eliza Dolittle", and a female caroler. At about a $ on-sale, you can make civilians for most of the latter 1800s.

Look for any rolls of brick or stone pavement. I soaked them in hot water and laided them flat to get the "roll" out of them.

Firemen LOWES building supplies

Get there quick if you want a 54mm-1/32 Horse drawn fire company ladder wagon. Two horses, six firemen and quite detailed. It was $27.00 and is now 1/2 price. Good for late 1800s, early 1900s.

Good info Scott, thanks for the "Heads Up". Michael's and The Home Depot are two of my favorite stores to brouse in. Both are less than 5 miles from my house.

I don't "paint" but I colored these Christmas figures to fit in with late 1800s scenes. They will paint up pretty well. Nice faces and details. The figures are from LEMAX and came be ordered from Amazon.com if you can't find them in stores. Most are about $3.00 US.

My local Home Depot was pretty well picked over by now, but there was still one tall winter pine left, originally $3.99, on sale at 99 cents. 75% mark-down, what an opportunity!

Prost!

I shouldn't have moved them around in my folders...........

Hi Scott,

Those are great looking figures! And,...the price is right! I can visualize a number of settings in which these figures could prove to be nice additions. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

The girl with the bucket could stand in as Molly Pitcher. Those are some good poses, I can see that they would fill a scene out very nicely.

The sculpting reminds me a little bit of Phoenix Models, in the way the faces are done. Can't wait to see these, when you have them painted, Scott!

Prost!
Brad

I'm sorry but they ARE painted. They are just painted over in one color to fit in with the rest of my unpainted or color-code armies. It's easier for me to store and to "play" with them w/o worrying about chipping the paint jobs.

The faces do have that round look look of Pheonix figures. I have a bunch of them from when I painted metal figures. The scrub woman had a mop too, but I removed it so that she would just be "Molly" or a farm girl.
