This morning my wife and I stopped at a little church thrift shop, here in Delaware Country, PA. We will stop here on occasion and once in a while we find some very nice treasures from time to time. We were early today and had about 15 minutes until opening. Next to this thrift shop, which is housed in a very old church, is they're parking lot, and next to the parking lot is the old church cemetery. I told my wife let's talk a walk through the cemetery and see how far the tombstones date back to.

As we started passing the markers we realized all of them were from the 1800's. Some were so old; the engravings were completely erased by the weather. A lot of the makers dated well before the Civil War. I told my wife I want to see I can locate any Civil War veterans. I found two such markers, and a third from an even older veteran.

1. Edward R. Guild - July 18, 1837 - Nov. 25th, 1906 - 12th Regt. CO. I. VT VOL's. (Vermont Volunteers).

2. Nathaniel Booth - 1838 - 1918 - PVT CO. F. 97th PA VOL (Pennsylvania Volunteers).
97th Regiment - of the Pennsylvania Civil War Volunteers (pacivilwar.com)

I found a maker that was erected in 1916, for an American Revolution Veteran. I had a hard time making out the last name on this one:
3. John East??? - Born 1752 - Died 1834 - A Sergeant in the 5th PENNA Regiment Continental Troops 1776-1777.
This regiment fought at the Battle of Brandywine. Brandywine Battlefield is about 5 miles or so from this church.

We really enjoyed our walk at this peaceful and quiet resting place.
I've attached photos of the three markers.

I believe that there are some Civil War vets buried in our local cemetery.
