Hi Guys,

Here’s a little something for your weekend...

An Aussie patrol is on a sweep a few clicks outside their main base at Nui Dat.

The local Viet Cong are constantly laying mines and booby traps along and beside the roads around the base.

These ‘Diggers’ from the Royal Australian Regiment have a pair of Royal Australian Engineers along with them to help ‘sweep’ the road and keep it clear for at least a few hours...

All the best,
Andy

Andy mate,
Outstanding release. Just finished reading the book "A Sapper's War" about the 1st Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers in Vietnam. 1,600 Sappers served with this Unit between 1962 to 1972 and 36 Sappers died as the result attributed to the dangerous work they did defusing, laying and clearing mines.
Your depiction of a two man RAE "mini-team" with mine detector usually accompanied Armour units (APCs or Tanks) because of the heavy mine detector which had to be carried and the two man RAE "splinter team" who accompanied Infantry Companies only used their bayonets and C4 to clear mines. If mine detectors were required they would be choppered in with a five man CET (Combat Engineer Team) to assist the troops on the ground.
I look forward to seeing these two new figures in the near future. They will be a great Christmas Present.

Cheers Howard:salute::

G'day Howard,
I see you discovered at least 2 of the photos I used as key references for designing the main 'Minesweeper'...In all modesty I reckon these two new figures are
among the very best 'Diggers' K&C has ever produced...Simple but evocative.

The pleasure this 'Vietnam' series gives collectors all over the world is only equalled by the enjoyment I get designing the figures and vehicles that go along with it.
Watch out for more previews in the coming weeks!

All the best,
Andy.

Very nice Andy! Makes me want to add some Nam Aussies to my collection.

Yep fantastic, the list lengthens, the bank balance drops, but the battle goes on. Robin.

What's the hold up Sarge ?
We're waiting for the Engineers Sonny !
