Probably a daft question to ask, but has anyone received the Club figure and the September issue of The Standard yet?

I have had only two issues of The Standard this year, is this correct or am I missing one?

Thanks.

Jeff

Jeff get in touch with the uk club folks they will have the latest eta on club figures and the Standard. There is a Standard coming out in a few weeks but I don’t have mine handy to see which ones have come out this year.

Dang, you have two issues? I have none....

While you are searching could you please also have a look for,

The Loch Ness Monster
Lord Lucan
Big Foot
Yeti
Jimmy Hoffa
Roanoke Colony Settlers
D B Cooper

Some of the above are possibly easier to find than new club figures..........................

Speaking club figures, it looks like they are trying to dump some stock. Great deal if you have a club membership and like the Zulu War, https://www.wbritain.com/product-store/collectors-club-gift-sets/collectors-club-gift-set-05

Obviously only my own opinion but to me where as the soldier figures are fine as is the mounted Scout, the other horses really were badly sculpted and WB should never had released them in my opinion which is probably why I often see these being offered at about half the release price.
Something for completists only I'd say.

I agree with you, but I also think that horses can be a hard thing to get right, the early TG WW2 cavalry were good but I did not like their later horses pulling a chariot for the Rome's enemies range. The horse I thought for the Zulu range looked a bit 'stiff' and more like statues of horses rather a living example.

Britiains dumping or reducing process again, think their income must be suffering as many many people have just not bothering renewing their membership and I think that was a good percentage of their income.......

Hi Guys

Some interesting points but it seems obvious no one is going to the Britains page on Facebook or to their website to ask questions. If you want answers then either call them and ask the questions or go to their sites. They have had some issues recently to Be sure but product is coming out and progress is being made. The club figures have always had a strange timeline and to me they will come when they come. As far as dumping stock goes the sets I am seeing that might fall into this category are merely sale specials they are doing with several sets to give folks in the club an opportunity to get a little more bang for their buck at Christmas.
As far as members quiting the club that’s not the story I get, sure folks come, folks go, tastes change people move to other makers it happens all the time. But to make a statement that the company must be in jeopardy because no one posts updates from them here is pretty inane. I asked them this question and they gave me this answer, Ken made a decision not to post on Treefrog for a lot of reasons but the primary one was he doesn’t want to be perceived as favoring one retail house over another. I think this is a very valid point and gives smaller dealers the same footing as bigger ones. Another thing most people don’t realize is they are not a company of hundreds of employees they are a much smaller operation than you might think so things take a little longer at times.

Now I must as a question here, how many members here are also members of the club and frequent the Facebook site or the actual website? From what I can see it’s very few. The Facebook site has about 2100 likes/followers and I am not sure about the website if there is a way to track visits and that sort of information I will have to ask them. But one thing I can tell you here is the Britains page in this forum doesn’t get that high a number of visits. It never has and I can say this because I have been on this site as a member since the beginning.

So folks don’t write the company off yet there are great things coming down the line and I for one am looking forward to seeing what the new year will bring.

Which figure did you order mate? I ordered the Viking one, Herryck. I like the 24th foot dude who is smashing the ammo box open with his rifle butt.

Two of the horses are stood still so they are going to look stiff :rolleyes2:

The horses where sculpted by ALan Ball who also did all of the horses for the Napoleonics, Durbar and the WWI range, I have a few and and I think they look very nice.

I recently talked with them and want to echo what Dave said. To each his own, but I am still a loyal customer. That said, I have never been in a rush to get my toy soldiers. I just send money to my dealer and a couple manufacturers and the figures show up when they show up. It’s always a great surprise when they show up in the mail, even when it’s months later. That’s just me, though.

I am giving Britains as much benefit of the doubt as possible. However, you can post responses on any site you wish but unless some product is seen soon I am afraid that all coollectors will have is pictures of what might have been.

The 42nd Highlander at Tel el Kebir, the War Along the Nile is the only WB range that I collect.

All the best Chris. :salute::

I had a chat with Katie at the UK Collectors Club, and it seems that the figures are still in China and hopefully will be here by the end of the year!

The Standard is awaiting publishing and should have both outstanding issues by the end of the year!

This information is only what poor Katie has been given by WB (I really wouldn't want her job!)

On a positive note, the evening event figure will be available on the night. :smile2:

Lets hope that next year these issues can get resolved and regular deliveries can resume.

Yeah, I had a feeling that was the one! :) He is a great figure. I really dig the pose and the sculpting and will probably pick one up as a homage to my buddy Jeff!!

Went to a dealer/shop and they have very little Britains this year and nothing for months, with no sign of any new stuff in the future, but they are getting promises and even more promises.

I, like many, have cancelled my membership in 2017 an will not be renewing. I cancelled because I thought the ranges I collected were not having any decent release, the Zulu range got 'boring', there were no new releases in the War of The Nile, the Clash of Empire changed the era mid way though and I just decided to stop collecting and sell my sets. While the Ceremonial have just too expensive for quality, great at around £13 but not £22.

Looking from outward there is no reason to re-join, they are offering nothing I want and what they do offer is not delivered. Another collector told me the other day he was being asked for his 2019 membership, but he still has not received a 2017 figure and multiple 2018 figures.

I think WB have to do a lot to get collectors back, in my opinion there is nothing the current management team can do, they have lost it. But I think what Ken should do to try and gain collectors trust and post on THIS FORUM what is happening and give collectors information on future releases and what is happening? Give us dates of release and take responsibility.

the other reason they have 'lost it' is there are more companies out there delivering better ranges and constant releases.

On a related note I think that it is telling that the one vendor on EBAY is dumping 49 WAN sailors. Seven have sold. The price per figure was originally $17, then $20, now $16.40. Certainly does not bode well for Britains.

Guys like I said before things are improving and product is forth coming.

Now Walsingham if your friend has not gotten his figure from two years ago than he is either stupid or the laziest person in the world. All he needs to do is Get on the phone or email and get that problem fixed. I have moved three times in the last 4 years and always contact the club to get the address updated and make sure my figures and Standard are posted to the correct address. I have not had an issue with club figures not showing up. Now if your collecting a line that isn’t doing it for you with Britain’s then go to k&c or t g and buy what you want. If it’s all gloom and doom in your eyes spend your money somewhere else and stop complaining to the folks on this part of the forum about had bad it is and move on.

Jomartvr dealers move stock all the time on eBay and at reduced prices so great if you want them but this doesn’t spell the end for Britain’s. Britain’s just doesn’t set prices like some companies in our hobby do so dealers can move items that are sitting around to free up space etc, I’ve seem dealers do this for years with lots of figures but the company is still here.
