Hi Bama boy,
I joined the club about 5 years ago for the primary reason of having access to what they call club specials. These are set of soldiers or individual figures that are not available to the general public. Take a look at my photos in my member page albums and you will see the Gurkha Pipe band they produced to the Jubilee series and the 2nd Gurkha Truncheon Jemadar. These two sets got me to join because I obviously have a fondness for units that served in India and the NWF in general and the Gurkhas are a units that have basicly been ignored for whatever reason.
I am also a major fan of the club magazine, so much so that I have sought out older editions of it to have an entire run of them which I nearly do now. The Standard is a very informative periodical that has proved its worth over the years to me when folks ask questions on the ID of various sets or figures.
You now also get access to discount vouchers that I usually use to purchase figures I might not buy rightaway.
There is also the added benefit of getting information from the club on special events they host such as the dinner/cocktail event in London at the December Show. With a special figure as part of the price of admission.
My latest favorite series that I have been working on is from the Crimean Line for which they have produced various club figures and some limited editions like the Soldiers in the Firing Line (which I bought 4) because they were only making a few hundred. Last year they produced a 95th Rifles Officer with a limited distribution of only 300 world wide so as soon as I saw it I bought it.
Well I guess the bottom line is going to have to be value... The club gives a lot of value IMO for the amount of money you have to spend.
Hope this helps push you to becoming a member of the club its really worth it.
All the best
Dave
