Lt (at the time) Gail Halvorsen initiated the "candy bombing" campaign to deliver candy in 1948 to German children during the Berlin Airlift. He passed away Feb 16th at age 101. My oldest son attended the Halvorsen Elementary School while we were at Rhein Main Air Base in 1982. RIP. Chris
