Commercial Realistic Water Products? (1 Viewer)

John, Scott,

I just ordered the 96 oz. @ $99.95.

It's enough for 11 sq. foot at 1/8" depth.

So, that's a whole lot.

He also has a 18 oz. for $29.95, enough for 2 sq. foot.

Spoke to David Williams at Unreal Details and he is the nicest guy in the world.

Gave me step by step and tips on doing the job.

Really cool guy.

David said he just contacted Treefrog about carrying his product in their store.

Thanks you guys,

Michael

Michael,
Glad you talked with Williams...He is a modeler first and businessman second...He'll probably answer the phone at midnight for a question! And you asked him how much you needed? I made mine upwards of an inch deep in places and it dried at the same rate.
Just make sure you have it contained when you pour on your terrain, since it seeks the lowest spot(true gravity). And HEREs THE TIP- Pour the magic water before you put the grass/flock on 'cause it will wick the MW up the bank of you little river like what almost happeded in Fargo!
Best of luck on the project, and you know I'll be cheering you on:cool:

Yes, I met Dave at a Kalamazoo, MI hobby show and he seemed like a nice guy and his product displays were really neat. I see he now has molds for ponds or lakes which are named after actual lakes in the area. I can't wait to try out the water. I been looking at the box for a long time now.:) Maybe I will try a little area or stream for practice. John

Mike, thanks for the tip. I need to contact you.

John, the molds look nice and cheap too ($15.00). I wish you would do something real quick, if there is such a thing as real quick, I would love to see it and get any tips from you too.

I'm going to try and post some of the photos of his water in dios if I can.

Most of these were done by David, all were done with his product.

I have not tried it yet, but I picked some up to try. The water effects they sell in florists or crafts stores to make the fake flower arrangements with the fake water in the vase. Looks really easy to use & it's fairly cheap. according to the directions you just heat it up till it's a liquid & pour it. it then solidifies into a gel again. according to the guy at the store I got it at you can add coloring to tint it as well. I forget what it's called (there's a few different products). maybe someone else out there has used it?

The stuff I got is called wonder water. I picked it up at an AC Moore. They carry a few different products that are essentially the same thing. Michaels arts & crafts also sells the same type of thing. What's great about buying from those places if you have one near you is they always have 20-40% coupons you can either print out or are in the sunday paper.

I will keep a look out for it and give it a whirl if I find it. I just hope it's not flammable if you have to heat it up...also, with the heat, foam terrain features might melt...
Mike

I don't think it's flammable. I haven't used it yet, but I think it'll be ok with foam. It just needs to be heated up enough to go from gel to liquid. Either nuke it for a minute or place the bottle in boiling water for a few moments. I'm sure it's trial & error at 1st, but seems like a pretty simple thing to use & looks good.
