I have enjoyed making desert scenics for my Crusader collection so much, that I am starting to get an interest in making a WWII desert diorama. I have always been fascinated by the SAS activities in North Africa and thought I might develop a small collection of those fabled soldiers.

My question to forum members is this. How does the Figarti B38033 SAS Long Range Desert Group 30 cwt Chevrolet (first picture) compare to the K&C EA024 SAS LRDG 30 cwt chevy (second picture) in size and scale? I want a side-by-side comparison because I am thinking about getting both to use in the same diorama. Any help and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks -

Mike

A while back someone posted comparison pictures. I believe they are not exactly the same size. I guess depending on how you set them up would determine their compatability.

Starting a new range? :) Well both are nice I think. I have both K&C versions never looked into the Figarti one

Thanks Gary and JPanther for the responses. Both models are supposed to be 1/30 scale but that can differ between manufacturers as you both know. I like the poses used in the Figarti model.

I have both and tried to download the photos of KC and Figarti but Treefrog limit its pix to 90 KB only. PM me your e-mail and I will send it to you.

The KC is quite smaller compared to Figarti. Not sure who is right in scale but looking at the pictures from OSPREY's LRDG book, Figarti seems to be correct. However, not to worry coz I used my KC CWT30 as CWT15. The latter is smaller in real life but looks exactly like the CWT30, CWT15 were later replace with Jeeps. Osprey's table organization shows CWT15 being used by the HQ Company. You need to remove the "H" bar on the bumper and re-shape the rear wheel well by filing off the angled corners and make them "squarish."
