I personally collect the entire K&C range except the Streets of Hong Kong and will always respond or bring up a topic of concern about any range. The WWII line happens to encompass the majority of sales for K&C and therefore the majority of discussions about the line. I think the other ranges are very colorful and happen to enjoy viewing them.

I too collect all the ranges except Streets of HK & the Egyptians.
I am willing to discuss the others. So here is a question, 2 years ago at OTSN I put together the Rough Rider Set, however I came across a few figures that apparantly were done by K&C but were a tad different than the origional set. I did not buy them for that reason.
I remember hearing somewhere that they were specially done for a dealer, anyone got any info.
And I only seen it once on ebay, it is the Roman catapolt, anyone got an extra?
Gary

Gary,

That set was made for a dealer in Texas as an exclusive. I believe it was King's X? It's a nice series. I do not have the entire set yet. Just about the whole series was on ebay about a week ago.

As far as the catapult goes I have seen a couple of them on ebay but thats it. Since the pricing has gone up so much I don't get the calls of collectors wanting to know if I would buy their older sets.

Here, at last I find someone that I do agree with! Dragoon I have to tell you I dont have any WWII items either. I had a bunch of them when I was a kid Britains plastic and others but my focus has been on the Napoleonics and recently the very beautiful Dehli Durbar sets out there. I prefer the glossy parade ground look to the matte finish soldiers. If you are like some of the other collectors out there and are disapointed with Britains new look take a look at Imperial or Beau Geste or Marlborough they are among the best out there. I also wish more Britains traditionalists would get on these threads and generate some discussion.

While I do collect some K&C WWII and Napoleonic, the great majority of my rather large collection is made up of figures painted in the glossy style. While these are considered " toy soldiers " I always look for a maker who can consistently produce a finely painted figure. That is, clean lines, eyes where they are suppose to be, etc. Imperial is an excellent company when it comes to that quality. Another maker of very good traditional style toy soldiers is Soldiers of the World, which are also made in New Zealand. They are carried at Tony C's shop located just outside West Point in NY state. Check them out at www.thetoysoldiergallery.com .

To Dragoon and DMN and to anyone else. Please feel free to open threads on any historical era's or desirables you collect.I know there are many others on this board that collect alot of the other K&C lines and other toy soldier lines. Please don't feel restricted in any way to just the WWII topics. That is what this forum is about,Toy Soldiers of any kind and us collectors.I don't feel its a personable chat room as was quoted.Again feel free to visit other boards and gather information from other sources. For me I'd rather just visit one good board with fellow collectors who enjoy the same interests as myself.I think that has been established here.
I'll shut up now before I get sent to time out for the umptinth time today.

To Fullyautomatic,

I actually have answered and asked several questions on the Britains Thread and have had minimal response. I guess the most vocal of the bunch for this forum are the King and Country WWII collectors. It would be great to discuss other sets with folks but I think the word is passing slowly in the collectors world so it may take some time for the rest of the people out there to catch on. Just the same it is amusing to see what the King and Country boys will think of next,

Webdesigner

HI, I'm new to the Tree Frog forum. I want to say a little about this topic. I'm a web designer as well as a toy soldier collector. I have been a customer of the International Toy Soldier Gallery since they first opened. Their corporate marketing team contacted me last fall to design a forum for them. From the start I recommended that they use vBulletin unknowingly the same forum design as Tree Frog Treasures forum. Unfortunately the decision led to the belief that we copied Tree Frog Treasures. We were all surprised to see the new Tree Frog forum just recently since we were planning to launch ours in mid May. The folks at International Toy Soldier Gallery are working on more great ideas for their website and trying hard to be an asset to this fun hobby.
I agree with hubby is a maniac. Multiple forums are healthy. I would encourage other websites to do the same.
I know the folks at International Toy Soldier Gallery, they are a good group of people. They speak highly of Shannon and Pete of Tree Frog Treasures. They refer customers to other dealers on a constant basis and yes including B Sagers website to look at brochures and images. They have sent me to other dealers when they are out of stock of an item. They aren’t even advertising their own website on their forum.

Thanks
Richard

Richard,

It seems to me that since the forums have popped up recently and most collectors have never had the experience chatting on one that maybe what people say and what they mean might be taken the wrong way. It will probably take awhile for people to settle in and I think you will find most everybody will bounce around from forum to forum looking for the answers they need. I have visited both and enjoy both.
I also think that multiple sites sharing ideas and allowing the collecting world to see whats out there only broadens the collectors mind. I have also sent many collectors to many other dealers and feel that a satisfied collector is a long time customer to the industry.
I am sorry to see you go since you feel this forum is so negative. Maybe your input would have helped others?

Bill

Dear One and all,

For the record, I love the Treefrog Forum. To my knowledge Treefrog did it first and best. Success of any kind breeds imitation --- c'est la vie...c'est la guerre!

The vast majority of the posts, threads, comments, replies on the Treefrog Forum have been fun, informative and good-natured and I have had much pleasure reading them and in some cases, putting in my "tu'ppence worth".

So, if that makes me a "2nd Grader" I'm proud to hold the title and I appreciate the select company I am in.

All success to Treefrog --- and anyone else who loves King & Country the way I do.

"We few...we happy few...we Band of Brothers".

Aye yours,
Andy C. Neilson (2nd Grade)

Andy,

It just goes to show, you never know who's listening!

Bill Sager

PS: I like the user name, where did you come up with that one? :D

Have to admit I do like you style Andy. I guess there are a lot of people out there that take things way to seriously. I also will tell you I enjoy looking at your product but alsa it will not fit in with what I am focusing on. Still it is a nice line. Keep'em coming!

Dave

Re: Competition from Treefrog

Shannon from Treefrog here. Looks like we've got two forums, lots of soldiers to talk about and plenty of collectors to go around. Let's wrap this thread up and get back to talking soldiers.
