 Well 2009 has to be Better for us WW2 Collectors? Anyhow,we could be in a (STALAG 17), Prison,or in the (HANOI HILTON) Prison, or in IRAQ , held by Terroist's, and Not Knowing our Fate, or being BEHEADED? We ALL have to have PATIENT'S;Toy Collecting is a Secondary Hobby for me, and for MOST of us; I'm sure we as ADULT's, have MORE Important Issue's,as taking MUCH Greater Responsibilities, in our Lives! If K&C, or CS, or HB, or Figarti , make's, any WW2, that doesn't Interest me ,for my Collecting, then I Don't Buy it! And if the PRICE's Continue to get Higher then, possibility, I Cut-Down Buying, all together! Simple Economics!

John,

I don't think 2008 was totally devoid of WWII releases, I seem to remember the odd 1 or 2, unless I'm getting confused with 2007.

Well, one thing is for sure, these companies are going to have find an innovative way to cut down on prices,, maybe having different materials or material combinations in the figures and vehicles,,

I think as far as figures go they need to make mostly one or two figure sets. When the three set figures were in the $60 range a couple of years ago that was affordable but most are now in the $80-$90 range that hurts. Then you throw in vehicles, scenics, buildings, watercraft it just becomes unaffordable.I like to put trees in my setups and JG Min.and Build-A-Rama have some great trees but they want $20-$60 for just one tree! The main thing is if you can't all the things you want for a nice setup, then why bother even getting into a range. As for myself I'm going to try to make my own scenics but even that way can be expensive.
Mark

Definitely agree with the 2-figure sets. I have been buying a lot more of those. More flexibility for less money.

"What the heck is this rant about?"

I think what John is trying to say is if he had a choice between being in prison or having his head chopped off:eek:, he'd rather just be patient and wait for items he really wants :p, but if said items are too expensive, he is not going to buy them because this is only a secondary hobby for him and he's an adult and has responsibilities in this world .

Now I have an ice cream headache ............

Well John you seem to be work up about something.I haven't worked it out yet but I thought last year there was so much great WW2 stuff released.Being Australian there was nothing released with us diggers in it but I had no money anyway for all the other things in WW2 that K&C made. There is no way I can get the komet and ground crew as it will be long gone before I'll have spare cash for this.Just holding on to my job for the next couple of weeks will be a blessing.Maybe there is a forum member out there that would buy and hold one for me untill I can get the money together in the next six months or so to buy it off him at retail price. No to much to ask Simmo.

I think most of us do have much greater responsibilities and try to live up to them everyday. But what is life w/o a little enjoyment? I for one go to work and bust my butt everyday so I can give my family the necessary needs. After the needs are taken care of then I address the wants of my family. I won't even toss myself a penny until my kids, my wife, my 4 dogs, 2 frogs and 8 fish are taken care of. When they are all content then I'll spend on myself for hobbys, sports etc... However all the pets and maybe the wife :D will be in trouble if Notre Dame ever makes it to another title game, all bets are off then :D

I think your wife and pets are safe for a few more years ! LOL. :D

I think there was loads of WW2 stuff last year but a just a lack of British armour witch is a bummer & was hoping K&C would of put out a lot more Market Garden sets to :(

SS Figures,8th Army,Big Red 1,FJ's,Crusader,Ambulance,King Tiger,Schwimm,Damaged Sherman, there were plenty of WW2 releases weren't there?..I understand the point John is trying to make about the real priorities of life,so does this mean we will no longer get any of John's lists after each dispatches;):D(just kidding John;))

Rob

Whilst i do not agree with a number of the WW2 releases last year, i don't think there can be any dispute that there were many good releases last year.

Just so we know what was released last year.......

2008

JAN; Elephant,Chaffee Tank.

FEB; French resistance,AK Pz MkIV, AK Marching figures,Truck passengers,Tank riders(i remember this distinctly because when i said i'd spotted a pic of them everyone thought i'd gone ga ga!)

MARCH; Blitzkrieg MkIV

APRIL;Sets of WSS Figs and Panzer 1 Ausf.f

MAY; Big Red 1 figs,Classic Sherman,crew set.

JUNE; Rommel's Horch

JULY;8TH Army Ambulance,Crusader,stretcher party,WSS Figures.

AUGUST;FOB Figs and Bedford truck

SEPTEMBER;Schwimm,Sd.Kfz 250

Being Beheaded  , man this toy soldier collecting is becoming
far too risky for my blood . I,ve got to admit that post bought a
smile to my face :).
I,m going to take up model ship building as I believe the worst
that could happen in comparison to that particular hobby is a dead leg or two :)

Rob running up the credit card is no problem because the flipside is
You could be being whipped with a wet teatowel as you quitely do the dishes,
Or a vicious chinese burn from a complete stranger when you least expected it ;).
