I finally secured K&C set# WS314 of Hitler's Ventilation Tower for his Bunker to complete my display of Hitler's last public appearance for his 56th birthday on 20 April 1945. In addition to all the new Hitler's Bunker sets by K&C I also have #4 sets or figures of WS 182, marching Volksturm, #1 set or figure of a regular German Army Infantry officer marching and #8 sets or figures of WS 096, marching regular German Army Infantrymen. Also used is a Fieldstone rubber mat made by John Gittins (J.G. Miniatures in the UK). At the top of the light blue backdrop are a couple of photos from history books relating to the Bunker in April 1945. Please see five photos below.

Very nice diorama Ironbrigade. Put the airshaft a bit further from the bunker ( see photos)and let the infantry march in between , will look more authentic

Well done Gary, the dio appears complete, some really nice sets. Just wondering as a multiple collector myself, why you have 4 of the Volksturm? Have the same figure, but for me it is too specific to do multiples. No big deal, but interested in your thoughts. Robin.

Gary...nice...I love it...the structure is really cool...

is Hitler pinching that guy's cheek?...^&grin

Hello Guy:

Ah yes, the Ventilation Tower I know is a bit close to a part of the Bunker entrance/exit. However, with display space of 10 x 24 inches the space only goes so far and I did not want the marching German Army infantrymen to be placed too close to the right edge of the display area. Also, I wanted to show a few of the Volksturm on one side of the display (left side) as they had a part in the last months of WW2.

Mike:

I was lucky to obtain a really clear closeup of Hitler about to pat the cheek of a really young Hitler Youth soldier. I remember seeing the film clip of Hitler patting the face of a Hitler youth who only looked like about 12 years old, a sad event!

Robin:

I just decided to use #4 figures of the Volksturm and to save space width wise I put them into a column of ones.

Hi Gary, Glad to see that you added the Ventilation Tower to your display. Also like the idea of adding the photo's above and behind the display showing actual period photo's !
Enjoy your new Goodies !
:salute::
