Hello fellow collectors.

I was looking for a particular figurine in the wanted section when I received a private message from mikesullivan informing me to contact by email seansweeney I'll leave the rest of the address off here, but you get the drift. mikesullivan hails from Montreal and has zero posts on this forum. So no history!

For your information.

Thank you.

Hi Grey

There was another scammer who did make off with some forum members after scamming them just a few weeks ago who was going by the name of Mike Breen.
Whether that is same person but with anotheer alias !?
Seems they like Irish sounding names !

Thank you Steve. I don't know, but all we can do is mention on this forum when we suspect possible scams in the making.

Cheers,
Grey

Been a couple lately and they always want you to pay using friends and family.

Mike sullivan-scammer or legit seller?

Sullivan just joined on Tuesday. That right there is a red flag to anyone who received any solicitation from him, or any member, for that matter.

You can check by going Community>Member List. Search for the name, or, to find the latest joiners, just sort the list on Join Date. Then you can decide whether to respond or not. Personally, I would delete the email and report the sender. The admins can sort out whether the sender is legit or not.

Mike Breen is still an active member, by the way, and I'm scratching my head as to why he hasn't been banned, after the experiences some of you had when he joined and then immediately started emailing members with offers.

Thanks for the tip. I've reported the sender to admin.

I just received a pm from someone named Stevenpascuzzi about items I’ve been looking for. This person joined an hour ago and his message has all the hallmarks of a similar message from another person I received sometime last year.

I would urge you to avoid this person.

I'll report him.

Yeah, I saw pascuzzi in the New Member spot in the footer this morning and looked at his profile page. It's typical in that he answered one or two of the member questions, eg, "Where are you located?", "What do you collect?", but that was it. No posts, no comments, which isn't in itself a red flag, but taken all together, these details are a little out of the norm for the average forum user.

I emailed Julie about him, in case she hasn't already seen him.

Prost!

I just received a private message from this scam artist. Before I knew he was a scammer I had contacted his "friend" and asked for photos of the very rare set he claimed to have for sale. Of course, no photographs were forthcoming. He just contacted me again to ask if I was still interested. Apparently he assumes I don't read the forum and know what he and his "friend" have tried to pull.

Be careful when you look for legitimate sellers based on the number of posts.

There are lots of scammers who are now playing the long game by posting for a few months then trying to take advantage of established members.

Be careful when you look for legitimate sellers based on the number of posts...

The number of posts isn't the only red flag. In this case, in which we have people joining the forum and immediately sending emails or private messages to members to offer them sales, it's only one criterion, along with the very recent joining, the lack of details to the account, the format of the username. And there may be other things that could catch a person's eye. All these things taken together should give anyone pause before replying to them.

If an offer seems too good to be true, chances are that it is. And let the buyer beware. Ancient wisdom, that is still good today.

Prost!

Guys if it seems odd or too good to be true report those messages to us and we will deal with it
