Is it true, must come at the end of the year a second serie of this riders? Will this be Yankees, or Rebels but in more combative poses?

Hi Custer: Glad you started a Confederate Cavalry thread as in my posts I did not intend to hijack Peter's thread on the new dispatches coming from K&C this summer. Peter did post that Andy was going to release a second wave of Confederate Cavalry in the latter part of the year. Britain's and Frontline have done a good job on Federal Cavalry but if Andy needed a Federal Cavalry idea I would suggest that he do a more specified Federal Cavalry release such as the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry "Rush's Lancers" or perhaps the 3rd New Jersey Cavalry known also as the 1st US Hussars or the "Butterflies" so named for their blue and yellow hussar braided early war shell jackets, Maybe even an orange piped 1st or 2nd US Dragoons circa 1861 or a green piped circa 1861 US Mounted Rifles. Lots to do on more specified Union Cavalry outfits.

As for the impending release of 8 Confederate Cavalry I have already done a work up of how they could be displayed in a comprehensive diorama or vignette. Hence my curiosity of the 2nd wave and if they can be spliced into the overall theme of the first July releases or if they are of a separate theme and or depiction. K&C being a 1/30 size will not lend itself being married as well with Britains and Frontline Figures but on their own they are splendid and Andy's incredible grasp of the look of the troopers from a creative license standpoint is first rate. Its hard to make a case for a lot of yellow in the haberdashery of late war Confederate Cavalry but for circa 1861- 1863 they are masterpieces.Researching the look of the Rebel trooper based on photos, tintypes, letters and records is sometimes educated guess. Interpretations on the part of the creators must avoid sterotypes and plug into the presentation solid based thought and knowledge. Andy is one of the best at this axiom and I'm sure his 2nd wave of Reb's will not take a back seat to the July releases. Its an exciting time for Rebel Cavalry afficianados and Andy is the reason why. He has a two fisted release coming this year and we all can hope he continues to release more Civil War era inventory without slowing down on his awesome WW1 and II creations.

I like them!:eek:Am thinking of getting some:eek:Even though I don't collect ACW I ams till really impressed with them, the mounting up poses remind me of when I was 5 or 6 in my grans in Milton watching old black and white Civil War Movies:D

Great pieces Andy!:D

Andy has given us Rebel cavalry buffs a great two punch release with the announced and photgraphed 2nd set of cavalry set for August release. The second set can be tied into the first set in a comprehensive diorama perhaps with the rationale circa late 1861 to early 1862: "A Confederate cavalry captain instructs a first Sergeant and his squad to quickly mount up and pursue a Federal patrol that has just ambushed a vedette around the corner." The second set shows the end result of the ambush as a surgeon and some of the vedettes squad rendering aid to their wounded. Andy has captured superb realism and reason within the two step release. I'm sure civil War purists may attempt to assail the look of the troopers as the frequent usage of yellow on the caps, cuffs and piping are depicted from a more regulation type format and that its hard to find that official color mentioned or seen in period photos and written descriptions. However for an early war comprehensive diorama of Rebel Cavalry the usage of creative license is tolerable and most welcome. If Andy wants to release a grouping of dismounted troopers and perhaps a few troopers already in hot pursuit of the Yankee perpetrators please have at it.

Congrats to civil war buffs, this batch of new releases looks exquisite! They make me want to belt out a REBEL YELL! I must resist the temptation to start collecting this series in detail but I might nibble on a piece here and there in a moment of weakness.

My projected Confederate Cavalry diorama is beginning to take on a life of its own. Andy's creations have forced me into thinking through an incredible back roads of Northern Virginia depiction that aims to utilize every single trooper from the mid July 1st phase of the K&C releases as well as the three other mid August release vignettes into a comprehensive and cohesive diorama. I will not include either K&C J.E.B. Stuart (mounted) or the R.E. Lee berating of Stuart in this display. To splice the elements of these incredible figurines into a well thought out diorama is challenging but can be accomplished and I'll look forward to sharing that with the forum when I recieve the figures and construct this scene. Incredible Andy...you hit a home run here and once assembled your teams work can be validated as I depict an entirely plausible moment circa 1861-63 on a wooded road in Northern Virginia. Thanks again for your creative genius. This diorama will be completed sometime late year and my intention is to share it with the participants on this forum. Stay tuned.

Thanks Mark...I'm going to take my time on it but once complete it will be quite nice.

Jef,

Do you have any other K&C ACW Diorama setup from the already released figures?

Just curious as I'm getting ready to start working on my first one in the next couple of weeks, just need a few more Federal troop first!

Eagle: No I'm starting from scratch. I do not collect Federal Cavalry let alone Federal infantry. I'm strictly Rebel Cavalry and am going to construct five dioramas: The Conte 1st Manassas, my grouping of Britain's 1st Virginia Cavalry circa 1862, the K&C backroads ambush scene, a charge at Yellow Tavern circa 1864 with Frontline Figures and one other.

I have just made room in the budget to start my ACW collection. I have never really been that interested in collecting ACW until I saw these new rebel cavalry pieces. I think they are outstanding figures that are really well done.

Sahara, welcome to the club!

I'm pretty excited to start collecting ACW. A friend of mine who owns a jewelry store is closing unfortunately. He has offered me some excellent display cases that could hold a diorama and I'm thinking of purchasing one or two to set up a ACW scene and possibly a WWII scene as well.

To those of you about to make the plunge into the CW series, don't pass up on the 83rd Pennsylvania figures. I have to admit I was disappointed when I first saw them in the official pictures. I only reluctantly bought them to have something for the Confederates to fire at. But now that I have them on display, they have become my favorite group of figures in my entire toy soldier collection.

I agree Kurt, I've started pretty heavy into the Federal ranks, and have been surprised also.

I doubt the 83rd went into battle wearing those uniforms, but there is always the possibilty, maybe in their first engagement...

I think K&C is making a great effort in animating their Civil War figures. I have all the earlier mounted Confederate generals (i.e. Lee, Jackson, Stuart, Mosby) and they are superbly sculpted with interesting poses which you can use in a multitude of diorama set-ups. I wonder if Andy has picked up on my comments several months ago about creating some Confederate cavalry figures preparing to mount their horses or if these were in the works for some time... :) Anyway, thanks for these new poses, these will definitely enhance my dioramas! Also, love all the other new additions. Would like to see some similar Union command sets... :)

Hello All

Can somebody help shed some light if the pieces in the new CW 044, 048 & 049 sets, are separable ?

Thank You :)

OD

Just received the 1st 4 Confed. Cav. They look great, I can honestly say I'm hooked on ACW now.
