I don't Collect FL, because they're too Expensive, also, I wish they were 1/30 or 1/25 Scale! But, I must admit they're are REALISTIC Pose's, that I have ever seen in the Past Collecting WW2! Keep up the Good Work! CIAO! :wink2:^&cool

Hi John, news flash....First Legion scale is 1:30th!! Sorry no 1:25th, or 28 etc, etc, as far as pricing, well we all wish all manufacturers were less exspensive, but it is what it is, I say if you really enjoy toy soldiers order 1-2 sets of any range you may be interested in and see for yourself first hand what all the excitement is about, Ciao for now :)...Sammy

Re: CONGRADULATION's on the NEW FJ's and the NEW DAK Figure's!

For me, most of the other toy soldier manufacturers are "what you see is what you get" from a quality perspective. The pictures accurately depict what you will receive.

What sets FL apart is that no matter how good the picture is, what arrives always is better that what I expected. I often hesitate due to the cost, but I have never regretted what has arrived. In fact, I am always super-satisfied when the real thing arrives.

Lastly, I think other manufacturers are starting to inflate their prices as they try to compete with FL. Not sure they are that much more expensive than some of their less realistic looking competitors.

And as said before, I find their scale much closer to 1/30 and realism than many other manufacturers figures.

Just for the record my opinion is that First Legion are not too expensive, in fact comparable figures produced at this level are many times more expensive then what First Legion are charging. If anyone can turn me on to a company producing figures at the level on offer from First Legion at a cheaper price I will gladly pay you a $100.00 finders fee. I have seen and bought em all, from A to Z over my past 40 plus years of collecting. I have also been commissioning figures for almost as long and I have come to the conclusion that its just not possible, I've tried. Of course there are much much better being produced by master painters around the world and I'm proud to own many but at a price of 60 to 70 bucks per figure... GOOD LUCK... not happening no way no how.. If there are any collectors who haven't yet seen or don't yet own any First Legion figures they really are producing something special and are IMO worth a much closer look no matter what your currently collecting. You really do owe it to yourself to check them out. regards Gebhard

I must say FL's new WW1 series Germans look absolutely stunning, superb looking figures. I believe they will be well worth the money as by the way are their ACW figures.

Hello GUY's! I forgot to ask you Guy's; are First Legion Figure's METAL? And what do you mean by 1/30th a TRUE Scale? Are these FL Figures Smaller, or Same size as CS and K&C? CIAO!

Yes, true 1/30th scale; ie, actually are 1/30th scale, smaller in both cases.

At least Andy must be relieved that he's directing his fire at Matt and not him :wink2:

These are not "beefy" figures like you like to call them, you will not be happy with them and will end up sending back to the dealer you get them from.

Save yourself and that poor SOB the drama and don't buy these, end of story, end of discussion.

Reverse psychology. Smart cookie :wink2:^&grin

Interesting discussion! Sad to see likes on a post that removes someone from a thread!!!! Anyway back to the subject.

John just buy a few sets of FL and then make your mind up. They don't work with any other manufacturers products currently on the market. In terms of scale or paint style. The response I saw on here when I joined was you either loved them or, you hated them. If you try to mix and match then it will probably end in tears but, use them as stand alone pieces or range/s and you will be pleased. If not, I am sure you will find no trouble moving them on quickly.

I think, the main stumbling block for many collectors seemed to be the price. It came to a market where at that time things were relatively cheap and very narrow in terms of what was offered and what was accepted as the norm.
Looking at manufacturers there is very little difference in terms of the gap between manufacturers figure or, AFV price. I think some have said well if they can charge that well, why cannot I and, accordingly raised prices. Are FL perfect? not really and as with others never will be. a few things I have found that I am not keen on but, that goes with most manufacturers. Facially, the western front releases have been much better for me and that was always one of my main concerns.

Stylistically it depends on what you like or, probably, more importantly are used to in the hobby. As a painter looking at the painting there is little doubt that they have become the best painted offerings from a production line type company.

They say variety is the spice of life!

Very sound advise Mitch, but John has specific requirements for his figures, he's stated on numerous occasions that he wants "beefier" figures, has also complained about what he refers to as the K & C and CS sculptures getting smaller, plus their vehicles getting smaller too.

Based on his numerous comments over the years on this issue, the FL figures would not be his cup of tea and in the end, he'd end up coming on here telling us all how disappointed he is with the figures and his suggestion would be to make them beefier, which is not going to happen.

I like that line about beefier George, next time I see a old school mate and they mention I have gained weight I will just tell them "no, I'm more beefier"^&grin^&grin...Sammy

And 'beefier' is much more preferable to 'porkier' ^&grin

I think there is a lot of generalization going on: A range of "Western Post-War Office Workers" could be beefier.
