I recently picked up a Conte Church and Priory, plus the ruined wall section (behind church left side). My question is which section fits behind the church on the right side. I've looked around and can't seem to find it. I can't believe that they would have just left unused space there. Any info would be appreciated.

I believe Njja can help you with this if you send him an email. You might also want to ask George at Minuteman Toy Soldiers since I think he has one of these. His web site is http://www.mmtoysoldiers.com/

I,ve got the above church, wall & priory. It depends on my mood where I place the wall, either in the back of the church or the right side. However you do it there will be an open side.
I think the proper way is the right side of the church.

You need more rubble to fill the hole. I made a bunch of rubble "piles" for my LOTR set up that work well for my ww2 set ups.
Small tin sheets cut irregular or to suit a certain area you need, debris, model RR ballast, bits of scrap wood from the shop, high density foam, balsa wood all glued together in a heap.Primered black, drybrush dark grey, highlight with light gray and whitish tan and presto , rubble.Same goes for ruined walls. I'm just lucky theres a complete metal and woodshop at my fathers place so room and tools are not a problem.
The Conte Church is one of my favorite pcs.Been tempted for years to detail it but it is great as is .You are lucky to have found one these days.

Thanks for the fast replies. It just looked like they're was a piece missing. I thought it was strange that the back of the church ended like this.

Yours looks fine, that is how they are made so they can stand alone. How was your fit? I have a couple of the Conte Churchs and after a little fine tuning I got an excellent fit. These were designed by Ken Olsen, he did a great job. He said if they didn't keep the molds clean a little trimming would be needed to perfect the fit.
Each one appears to have a unique paint job, so you can have a little fun customizing it your way. Did you get the hanging paratrooper? If not you can use one of the King & Country guys. I'll post a shot shortly of the Conte & the K&C figures on the tower.

Hi Rick from MichToy. The piece for the right behind was never made. I beleive it was to made at alter date and forgotten about. For the church Ken Osen did for my shop he used two of the ruined wall sections and put rubble in the gaps. Check Old NOrthwest site of images of how he did this.

Thanks Rick,

Rick put the pieces in my hands, thanks again. I have the "Old Northwest" site bookmarked as a reference. Now if mine turns out half that good I'll be happy. I was planning on using a K&C paratrooper figure to hang off the bell tower. I would appreciate a look at how you did it Njja. The fit on mine was pretty good. The tight areas got a little trim with an exacto knife. Thanks for all of the input.

Photos coming up shortly, first I will show the Church with the King & Country Paratrooper. For this one because of his weight I used tiny eye bolts sunk into the steeple. Then some lines linking him to the shoot on the steeple.

Here is the completed church with King & Country Paratrooper, I think it looks OK.

Here is the much lighter Conte Paratrooper, I have rigged some lines and attached him with simple straight pins which are not visible. The holes in his leader lines are extremly fragile so I was only able to use one, the other is tied onto the leader lines. I'm still working on this one.

Here is the second church with the Conte Paratrooper. Wife is having a good time detail painting the Church. I really like this one, I think she is doing a super job!

It looks great! There was never another wall made for the playset to extend the Conte church. When I made the original pattens I used some of my own Hudson & Allen Studio slate shingles so the extended version I did for ONWTC was easy. I suppose the hardest part for anyone wishing to extend their church will be finding a loose wall section on the secondary market, although I did see a few in Chicago this year and kick myself for not picking them up. Hi Ken always glad to here from you! Glad you like the way the church is coming! Your work in designing this piece is as usual the best!
Thanks Again!

Njja,

Thanks, very nice job on the church.

Ken,

Thanks for your input and designing such a great piece. It's one of my favorite Conte items.

Anyone have any loose wall sections floating around ? :)

About how much do these sets go for?

Contact George at Minuteman as suggested, he usually has one or knows

where to get one. They are getting difficult to find, but are worth the

search! One of the finest pieces for your collection, sure to bring a smile

each time you see it.

Usually goes for $300 but I have seen it go for $500 and $750 with the

original playset. Tough to find with the original paratrooper.

Here is a shot of mine.

That picture looked so good that I contacted George at Minuteman Toy Soldiers per suggestions from the other posts! He was able to hook me up with a Conte church & winterize it at that for my Battle of the Bulge Ardennes scenario. I should have it in a week or so & will be sure to post a picture or two. By the way-George was great to work with!

George is a great guy and a very hard working K & C dealer (in addition to other lines). I divide all my purchases between him and Treefrog. You can't go wrong with George and Shannon.
