I almost locked in one of these a year ago. Unfortunately I never heard back from the individual after the first couple emails. Great piece, congrats.
Conte did a great job on this ship.View attachment 207818 View attachment 207819 View attachment 207820 View attachment 207821 View attachment 207822
That is quite the model, can't imagine the engineering involved.
Did the romans really put stone/block towers on there ships? seems like that would cause some serious pitch and roll in heavy seas?

...The tower you mention is one...
Your comment made me take a longer look and think about it, Chris. I wonder if that might not go back, ultimately, to Renaissance depictions of a Roman ship? Many artists had a tendency to depict ancient subjects with contemporary details, like paintings of Biblical subjects, showing ancient Hebrews, or Romans, wearing armor more appropriate to the 1500s. Or do we have any archeological evidence that the Romans would have installed a stone tower on a galley?
Prost!

Well,
since my post I have gotten quite a few inquiries on the Galley. I am now seriously considering letting it "sail" away as I hate it sitting in my garage on non display. I just have to figure out an asking price. I am not sure I have ever seen one sold on the secondary market.

Hi Tom
mate the roman galley you should be asking if selling around $700 to $800. I have 5 of them, there great and 4 of the Viking ships and one of the cog
all the best
