Hello from Downunder

I hope, at some time, that Conte will consider doing WWII Italians and WWII Japanese (in plastic). I think both subjects have been very underdone in recent years.

Anyone else have a Conte wishlist ??

regards

:):):)

I'd have to go with - yet more Brit Paras. I know it's a bit boring and that there are 16 poses out there already, but the more figures out there, the more variations I can make by chopping them up and sticking them back together.

Probably more realistically, I hope to see the additional 20 GIs from the BOSS metal sets done in plastic.

More Germans, Fallschirmjager, Afrika Korps, Eigth Army, Aussies, Brit / Commonwealth Infantry......well, if he makes WWII in plastic, I'll buy it.

I agree with what your saying on the Japanese / Italian front, and although they wouldn't be my first choice, I would definately get them.

That said, I think we're in a bit of a slack phase for WWII plastic, the concentration being on the Spartans et. al.

I was hopeing like Simon that Conte would have done the remaining Gi,s in plastic. That was a pleasant surprise at last years OTSN to see the new plastic figures.
Unfortunatly I don,t see them anytime soon.
I don,t get the Spartan thing, but that,s just me.

How can British paras be boring ?!?!

No- one else has done 1/32 Paras since Airfix (Matchbox ??) and I certainly acknowledge that Conte do their plastics in very dramatic poses. I was very pleased with my purchase of Conte Paras.

I recently got the opportunity to see the contents of the Italeri 1/32 scale WWII Russians and I was very disappointed. I will add WWII Russians to the list (forgot in my previous post.)

I agree with you!, I think the subject is tops, it's probably just my requests for Brit Paras that might get boring, in so much that they've already done some.
Whatever WWII series RC turns his hand to next, I'll be waiting patiently (ish:D).

Simon

I hope that RC will do the Bloody Omaha figures in plastic, plus I really love it if he would revise the current US paratroopers and bring them up to the standards of the new GIs - or at least make them in the firmer plastic used in the GIs.

I'd just like to see him finish the Alamo, been what almost 4 years since set #7?

Now as to the actual wish list, it would be as long as my arm (and in plastic). For WWII I would look for German Paras, Brits and German for the Western Desert or Indian Army (for CBI or Western Desert). Aside from that, Normans and Saxons for Hastings (something he had proposed a long time back) or the Rangers and Indians set in plastic that had been presented a couple of years back. My long shot would be Korean War figs.

I too would like to see more Alamo figures. The Alamo series is what got me back into collecting several years ago. I have all the available figures and keep waiting for the next stage. I know all of the other stuff is neat too. I like them but my favorite (I guess because I started with them) have been the Alamo series and I want more. I want to finish the Alamo set up in my guest bedroom. Help........Produce more Alamo!!!!

That all depends on who you ask, just reread his April reply to the SOS size issue on another forum, according to the Lord of Conteville, only one figure is large and that was done on purpose.

Conte Size creep

Sorry Eborris, I beg to differ re your "one figure" comment.

The day I purchased the Britis Paras, US Paras and German figures I compared them in size to my existing equivalent Airfix figures.

ALL of the Conte figures were noticably bigger to the degree that the two manufacturers are not really compatible together on the fields of "skirmish".

The Airfix figures were 1/32 scale. I will have to find an old Conte box to determine the advertised scale. Will get back to you.

I dont see how any campaign is ever "finished" regarding the production of figures. 20 figures should be 40, 40 figures should have artillery and then cavalry. I'm not a Yank so the Alamo doesnt really "do" anything for me and neither do the Spartans- however before I get howled down- to each his own !!

I would prefer that Conte (and other manufacturers) create ranges of figures across a broad spectrum of eras/ nationalities. In my view 10 blister packs for the Gis (27 different figures) was excessive given that other troops eg Russian, Italian, Japanese, British etc have not been produced at all.

Anyway thats my view.

Re: Conte Size creep

I don't disagree with you, I've seen them and they are monsters compared to other figures, reminds me of the Ideal GI's compared to Marx GI's. I was just saying that Conte himself posted on another forum and he said only the one guy was huge and they made him extra big on purpose. Where I come from they call that blowing smoke, I won't say where.

I thought I read some where that more Germans, Japanese, and Russians were coming, including some Russian women soldiers. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that some where. I like what Conte has done so far, but I too want more, more, more.

Don,t look for any new WW2 Conte stuff anytime soon.
It looks as if all the upcoming sets will be ancient and a pirate ship.

I LOVE the idea that Conte went deep into the GIs before moving on to other stuff! That's my only complaint about the TSSD figures, they produce 6-8 poses in one theme then move on to a whole different season, campaign or nationality. A little bit of an ADHD approach. We had summer GIs, then winter Germans, the Civil War, the Ruskies, USMC and Japanese, then winter US, then Civil War cavalry. All of these are fine figures - the new cavalry are GREAT, but they are scattered all over the place. I just can't get the pattern (if there is one). Are they taking care of the Eastern Front, Normandy, or Gettysburg?

We MIGHT see the Conte BOSS figures in plastic sometime. I got mixed signals at OTSN. One staffer told me that it would never happen, but RC himself spoke like he was thinking about it. That said, if we see the BOSS figures, they won't be in "soft plastic", but would likely be a resin plastic.

I don't know about anyone else, but 27 different poses being released all at once, is unbelievable. I am happy just to be able to afford these fine products. The Conte GI figures in my opinion, are the best Toy Soldiers ever made. I really like the new TSSD Calvary also. I can keep up with what I have right now, as far as converting and painting. I own 3 100 GI sets in all three colors. I have at least 6 or 7 German sets 1 to 4, 3 each of US Paras, 2 each of Brit Paras, Arabs, Vikings, Normans, Saxons, Brit 24ths, and Zulu. I only have a 1/4 of them painted. I think Conte and TSSD being the same size is great. I for one am willing to wait for something new. As far as the new Spartans, I know I'm going to buy them when they come out. I like the sound of multi pose able. Nobody comes close to Conte in plastics, and that is what I do appreciate, Conte does both. As far as wish lists, I always loved Calvary Indian Wars. Down the road when Conte gets around to that era, everyone will be praising the company for the best Calvary Indians ever produced. They will be saying how good they go with the Civil War figs, and how good they go with the TSSD Calvary. But no doubt, the bashers will be saying, they didn't have this or that kind of bridle or saddle or scarf or whatever. Mike:)

No doubt Conte makes great stuff, the plastic Spartans are truly innovative and revolutionary.

My only complaint is that it's takes so long to get something on the market, I know it's a long slow tedious process and he doesn't want to put out inferior products, but man, he has so many cakes in the oven it seems like years sometimes before the planning and the product hitting the market.

Unfortunately Ed it doesn,t seem like years, it is years before new stuff comes out.
But he does have the best!
