Patience my Lord General all good things come to those who wait. We all must realize we're not visiting McDonald's or calling the Pizza hut for a cheese Pizza for instant delivery and I'm sure you've heard of The Slow Boat from China:D:D:D

Ah just so... But what about the big sale to clear out space for said boat?

I have been buying from BTSoldiers on ebay for most of my ACW stuff. Still some sets out there that I would like to have. I feel the ftustration in regards to buying the plastic Spartans. I have been resisting. But patience is wearing thin. I hear the warning time and time again. Yet I am drawn as a moth to the flame:eek:Come on RC! We are still waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes we are but I think it is fair to say, RC and company are as well. They certainly have every incentive to make these available as soon as they can, there is obviously not as much revenue from a two for one sale.;) It would be nice to have some better indication of what the issues were so that one could do their own estimate. That might save some Ebay money.:D

I caved the other day and bought my first single metal Spartan. I was determined not to touch these in metal (due to cost of another range of figures), but the wait for plastic is just toooooooo long .

It must be a clever business tactic of RC's

That said, the figure is awesome (and 60mm ).
I need a plastic fix, quick, as I'm already starting to look at the other Spartan sets already out there.

I was at Jackson's stall at the show on Saturday (the only UK dealer in Conte for the benefit of our US colleagues) contemplating buying a couple of sets, which eventually I did. A guy in front of me with his son (who was a little uninterested) bought 40 sets -yes 40 sets of metal Spartans/Persians. Total cost made me wince:eek:but could imagine the dio set-up he had on his table that night. Soon after another guy bought 18 ACW sets, gives our US froggers some idea how difficult it is to get hold of any Conte sets this side of the pond plus as I have mentioned before any Conte set is rarely if ever sold below cost in the UK even on ebay where they always go above top dollar. I let Joe(Lt) know as well that he also had all three of the Rocco Zulu sets at approx £138 ($264 US) for Rorke's Drift Set 1 which now have to be as rare as hens teeth Stateside let alone in the UK.

A personal note on the Conte sale I have ordered 3 lots received 1 with 2 still in transit and without doubt it's an excellent deal when compared with what we have to pay here in the UK for any of the Conte series and even with shipping costs added (thanks to the current $-£ rate) Appears from comments on the threads that I was fortunate that he had the sets I was after and that sale is still on!

yes i agree with you REB i did buy some plastics of ebay and could only get 7 or 8 figures for a tenner +plus 2.50 p+p but now i'm ordering from the US much better 16 figures for the same price as 8:D

Reb,

It's a bit of a pain isn't it? I've only gotten 1 or 2 Conte sets from this side of the Pond, but have bought loads from the States. I'm still eyeing up more metal Spartans. Pleeeease release the plastics!

I get the feeling that he's going to have to sell tons of metal before we see the plastic, I'd be surprised if they came out before OTSN in September, but I like surprises.

I only found about about the metal Spartans in early February, only to find that most of the popular sets were sold out indefinitely. I have managed to find a good core of these from various dealers, direct purchase and Ebay. I certainly wish I had access to Jackson's, do they have a website or at least email? To sell 40 sets, they must have had most of the series in stock.

Ken Jackson owns and runs Maison Militaire but the web site could do with updating, but has all the contact info. http://www.maisonmilitaire.com

Hope this helps.

Have you checked with Matt at the Hobby Bunker? www.hobbybunker.com and you may want to attend the NETSSTSS event at the Holiday Inn this Sunday in Dedham, MA. You may want to e-mail him checking to see if he's got figures or sets that your looking for and I'm sure he'll bring them to the show if he has them.....The Lt.

Just a note refering to UKReb's pricing of Keith Rocco's Rorke's Drift and Conte's 4 figure set of The Hero's of Rorke's. The prices listed at the UK Show are as follows in US Dollars Set 1 $265.00, set 2 $202.00, and the 4 figures set $105.00 for a total of $575.00 not including shipping and handling.
From Conte back in January of 2004 for all three my Cost was $242.00 which inlcuded shipping and handling. My cost reflected the use of 2 Conte Club membership discount coupons with the 4 figures set at no charge. I'm sure that masionmilitarie on a bulk order cost was less per set than what I paid. Thought you all would find the above interesting.....The Lt.

I have purchased all my Spartan sets directly from Conte. If you keep an eye on their page you will see a deal either for shipping, a free set, or a pre-release price for the sets. They have always emailed me when the figures were to be delivered, and on upcoming sets. I would highly recommend buying from their site. Now to save up for all the upcoming add on sets for the Spartan line.

Napoleonics, COLDSTREAM GUARDS!!!:D:D:D AWI in plastic, mounted normans, Athenians, and what ever happened to the Horns of the Buffalo? They had pictures of all the sets and i think prices.

Why don't you e mail Jennifer at Michigan. She told me they had most of the Spartan stuff in stock
Regards
Damian
That is odd, I spoke to them in March and they had very little stock on the Spartans and only most of the Persians. Do you have her email or is it on the site?

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the link. I remember Maison Militaire from the adverts in Military Modelling Mag eons ago. I didn't know they were still in business.
Some very interesting items on their website. Of course, the question has to be, are they all still available? I'll maybe get around to contacting them for an update.

Cheers

H,

Don't get your hopes up, Ken's site is notoriously out of date, so what he has avialable is best gotten via phoning.

Thanks Simon,
I've had to implement a self-imposed ban on acquiring anything more than the very occasional US$couple of hundred for the rest of this year in any case. Credit card has had an almost terminal fright during the first half of this year and is still in intensive care.
