Conte you wish you'd got (1 Viewer)

Luckily, I got into collecting when Conte and Britains were about the only ones doing much with ACW, so I have a lot of the Conte ACW sets, including all the Rolling Thunder pieces. The Confederate and Union dead are also fantastic, and I wish I had more extras, since they add so much realism to a scene!! If I could have one piece I never got, it might be the Roman War Galley. The Norman Church would be a close second. On a side note, I am also very fond of the ACW zouaves Conte made right after moving to North Carolina. I was working in Raleigh at the time, and someone working with Conte delivered them to me in person at work. Now, that was great service!

Great points Dan. I really liked the Conte sets that came as dioramas so to speak with bases and such, the ones he did based on Troiani paintings were all top shelf. I wish a present day manufacturer would revisit this and do more sets based on his work, similar to what Britains is doing now with Rocco. If only........:wink2:...................I get requests all the time for the Conte Church and priory, they are the two most requested items I get from customers.

And yes, those 5th NY Zouaves are great, it would help to have Confederates to go up against them..............

I had all those Troiani sets.Sculpting would seem a little rough by today's standards but back then they were great. My first foray into large scale toy soldiers were these.

Well, I just happened to recently acquire all three Conte Civil War sets and I'd be more than happy to sell them. Yes, they are pricey though, although not as pricey as you might think.

ACW sets still my favourite of any Brand {along with WBritains}.....Playing catch up as I should have grabbed them years ago.
But sadly some sets are way to Pricey now or just to hard to find..other stuff that Conte did was very cool did like Tavington vs Martin Dual,
Also liked the Spartacus sets!

The 5th NY Zouave hand to hand sets - I've got the "knife fight" and "bayonet to the gut" ones (eBay pickups) but I'd reward someone handsomely for the other ones... Not even sure if they were even released?
