Thought I'd post my first Thread in Plastics to see if I could accomplish it.
The figures I'm sure your aware of are from Conte's Set 3. Two are painted as Royal Artilley Gunners.

Figures look neat LT. Did you use enamels or acrylics? I finished a bunch of Conte's Zulu's last year but the troops are still half painted in workbench drawer. I hope to finish them one day. Got busy painting Conte WWll and SD soldiers Pacific. Easily distracted by what comes out new. Leadmen

I used HUMBROL Flat Enamels and finshed with Testors Clear Gloss. Now I've got to figure out how I can get more than one picture at a time posted. By the way do I have to start a new Thread refering to Conte's 24th Foot to continue posting comments and photos. It was nice hearing from you Leadmen. I've confine my collecting and painting to the ZULU WAR over the years..............."The Lt."

Yes, I would start a new thread on Zulu War under plastics. I use Humbrol and acrylics to paint. I coat my figures in matte. I am no longer allowed to use enamels in house so I use them in summer and acrylics in winter. I don't know much about posting pics but I post them one at a time. Leadmen

Just use the same procedure that you used to post the single photo. You can upload up to 5 photos. After uploading the first, simply click on the "Browse" button to find the next picture and upload that one. Then use the paperclip button to insert all the pictures you uploaded.:)

The following are figures from Sets one and two . Until I learn to down size my photos it's the max I'll be able to post per posting. Thanks Steven Chong for the help you provided. Along with others like you it's what makes our hobby so enjoyable.........."The Lt." Joe Quintini

A few additonal photos highlighting Conte's Plastic vs Metals along with The Hospital from his Zulu Play Set.........."The Lt."

Kind of neat seeing the difference between the metal and plastic figures. Thanks for all the pics.

Put together a few new photos of my Conte plastic Zulu's & 24th while finishing off some metal figures to be feature as time goes by in Creating the battle of Rorke's Drift..........The Lt.

Nice looking group of figures you have. The hospital is awesome and so is your painting skills. It's always nice to see something different. I get tired of WWII all of the time that's why I posted some of my older Amer. Rev work on Plastic conversion section....Thanks for showing your work.:)

Should we paint or not paint and if so should it be a matte or gloss finish. Many of our fellow collectors who prefer collecting plastics wish to leave their figures in pure form. With a vast selection of products now available covering a wide range of historical combat periods from ancient to modern we as collectors with limited funds can stay in the game. With Conte, TDS and others offering their product lines both painted and un painted and with the current level of sculpturing it gives us an opportunity to enhance our metal collections. Some of us purchase thier figures in platic already painted others prefer to paint thier own. As you'll agree with me we have a number of super talented members in our forum. Some are talented enough to mold their own metal figures as well as covert them and others are talented in converting their plastic figures and finishing them off with excellent paint jobs. Thought I'd bring the subject up along with a few photos..........The Lt.

Paint 'em Lt. Tis the only way. :)

Most of the time, I think a better finish can be achieved than that carried out by the manufacturer, afterall, they are mass painting their figures whereas the collector / painter can spend a little more time getting their figures just right, as you have shown repeatedly in your photos.

The only down side is the time it takes to do a real perfecto job on them, especially if you've got big scenes / dioramas such as the ones you have pictured.

I agree Simon it just takes time but at this time in my life I have it. Got tons of Zulus to do yet. Wish you the best for the coming year.....Joe

Thanks Joe, and to you and yours.

I've spent the last month doing 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there on just 5 of the Conte Brit Paras. Still, keeps me out of mischief.

Simon

When the holiday season is over and things get back to normal I look forward to doing more figures. I have to pysch myself to redo my napoleonic diorama first and sell off a lot of figures metal and plastic.

Good afternoon Simon and The Kilted Vampire and a happy start to the New Year to you both. Like the two of you I need to set a goal to finish a number of Metal Figures started back in the 80's by MINIMEN along with 14 Zulus I had unpainted by Greenwood and Ball which I was think of having someone cast me a number of copies. Never did get it done and then back to my plastic Zulus. Not good with setting New Year resolutions, I've got to make it a point to work on a few metal figures per day until complete and then on to my 200 or so Plastic Zulus. Should keep me out of trouble for awhile. Hope your day goes well..........The Lt.

Resolutions: a sneaky plot to make us feel like failures for not fulfilling or completing or resolutions. I don't know who is behind it but when I find them "POW" right in the kisser!:p

I aim for low standards where it comes to resolutions. But still end up failing to keep them.

I've got to get round to painting up all 6 sets of the Conte Zulu plastics at some point, but have got to get round to doing all the Brit Paras (16 + 16 conversions) first.

Ah, roll on 2010. I'll revisit this statement then and update you on my progress.

Hey, 6 sets is a 120 figures. Slow down, you are making us look bad:)
