Hello,
Do you know where I could find some documentation (drawings...) on the flags of the Crimean War ? British, Russian, French and Turk.....

Michel,

It might take some work but If you use Babelfish or Google Translation you can stick in some searchwords in Russian for the subject. Military history seems to be big over there and I've even seen a few Russian Crimean War reenactors along with WWI and Napoleonic. These groups usually have unit histories on their sites.

There are a couple French online archives of illustrations including military subjects. Let me look when I get home. P.M. me if I forget.

For British flags, the Osprey books on flags of the British army can be a starting point. One book covers infantry, and the other cavalry. They describe the warrants and other regulations that governed flags and standards, from restoration up to 1900 (I think they end at 1900, mine are at home). They have examples, but not for every unit.

Try the search words..guerre de Crimée (1854-1856) on this site. There's 32 pages of Illustrations with some photos of actual flags. The whole collection has 304 illustrations which may also have flags.

Hello,
In addition to the links mentionned below, I've just found a article in Tradition number 44 on Russsian Crimean War flags and standards. There is no colour drawings but clear explanation on the colours schemes. Great help.
