The Crusader state has been long been in a period of decline. The city of Acre stands alone as the last bastion of Crusader power in the Holy Land. Defended by the Military Holy Orders and various allies, Acre has now come under siege by the powerful Mamluk armies lead by Sultan Khalil. A fierce struggle ensues and the result is the final collapse of the Crusader State.

When will the next batch of Crusaders be released?

Good questionm, Sahara. I would also like to know the answer to your question. Since I collect only Medieval Crusades-era things, this new F.L. range is pretty exciting for me. Although a bit more recent in time than the K&C offerings, some of the F.L.s should tie in just fine. I'm looking forward to the siege engines and other items that will be released, as this line develops. Not many years ago, I couldn't find any 54mm Crusade-era items from any manufacturer. Then K&C released their first offerings for their new Medieval line. Now, suddenly, several other manufacturers have released 54mm Crusades-era figures and I have many options to pick from. I'm as happy as a pig in whatever it is they like rolling in!

I am looking forward to the release of mounted knights

Just got my first FL Crusaders, CRU002, 003, 004, and 006 and am VERY happy with 'em. Great detail, poses and incredible painting. The 006 spearman has a bit of a 'zombie' look to his face-but then, if I were fighting like them, I might be a bit 'zombie'd out' also (lol). They look great with KC Crusaders/Saracens. I'll do my best to attach some pics later tonite.
Can't wait for more.
Mike

Here's a few hasty pics-I'm no where near the photo artist that a lot of guys on this site are, so I fear the pics don't really do these figures justice-but they give some perspective.

They look great in action and against the K&C Saracens. There are just too many great choices now in this hobby.:cool:

Hi Michael,

I agree with debrito that you might want to try shooting without flash. Flash causes reflections and a harsh appearance. Available light usually looks the best. Just be sure to hold the camera very still. Bracing against something often helps. Having said that, thanks so much for posting the images. The figures look just great and I agree that they tie in well with the K & C figures. I can't wait to place my own order. Yeah Mike, so many Crusades choices now. This is a great time to be collecting 54mm Crusades figures. Can't wait to see the FL Crusades Saracens and siege engines they mentioned would be coming along shortly. Then there will be the next Crusades release by King & Country in November. I recently received my first Black Hawk Templar figure. I'm very pleased with it, so I'll be getting more of those too. So many choices now, such limited funds. Whoah is me!

I am like most everyone, With the Chicago show, was hoping for a glimpse of what is next in the Crusader line. but I guess It was not ready yet .I for myself is hoping that there would be some siege pieces.

Many thanks to Mike for providing the photos - most appreciated.

Still waiting for FL's mounted Crusaders. Very pleased with my K&C crusaders, which are very colourful and full of action. My bank account is bracing for an onslaught come November

g18,

I know you like mounted knights. I just ordered the Black Hawk BHT-0505 Gerard of Ridfort. It appears to be a beautiful mounted Templar, from the picture anyway. Take a look at that figure on the Sierra Toy Soldier or Michigan Toy Soldier Company site. I ordered from Michigan and as it turns out, it is now backordered, so I'll have to wait for a restock, which might take up to three weeks or so. I'll be happy to give you my impression of the figure, once it arrives. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming mounted knights and Saracens in the K&C November release!

George

Hi George,

You are the Crusade specialist  You must be thrilled by the releases from 3 manufacturers in short order - after quite a lull. We are having a bumper season :)

Your impression of Gerard de Ridefort will be most appreciated - I like the helm. He was captured by Saladin in the Battle of Hattin (which was depicted in the movie Kingdom of Heaven) where the Crusaders were routed in the dry open plain. He survived that, but perished in the Siege of Acre - Saladin the nemesis again. Your comments on how Black Hawk fit in scale-wise with K&C and FL will be helpful.

I am looking forward to FL's mounted knights because they do very nice horses

I am also pleased with the K&C foot knights - I hope the new releases will have some brandishing swords and spears because I already have quite a few with battle-axes.

Best regards
