Welcome to the forum Ron. I will probably watch it. The interplay of fact and fiction is sometimes a bit much when the historical record is such an interesting story by itself. I have never collected any KC Roman figures but have several of the Russian made Romans which are fantastic. You should take a look at those if you have plenty of that DC lobbying money to burn. :)

Speaker Pelosi - is burning all my money now

Yes, the storyline for ROME has great entertainment value - as for the historical record, you are right - Its a bit off. But, good TV.

What about Crusaders - do we know if the "tower" in the ladder figures photo is coming out soon??

When I bought the Saracen Castle at the Chicago Show, Andy and Gordon told me that casts had already been made of the corner tower, one of the wall sections and the main gate/flanking towers section, to be mass produced in polystone. It is apparent from the photographs of the ladder set that the castings have at least been made into painted prototypes for production. I expect that it will be released sometime in 2007.

Louis:

I am really exicted about this range. Besides the wonderful figures - the subject matter is really great. One of the displays that I am working on is using some of the Saracens with my French Napoleonic Figures for a Battle of the Pyramids - with a little from the Ancient Egypt range - and you have "Forty Centuries Looking Down upon You" - very cool.

Hi Ron,

Welcome to the forum.

I suggest that you post pictures of your display Battle of the Pyramids when it will be finished.

Pierre.

Pierre:

I sure will - still developing - looks promising. Need more dead Saracens....
and some more sand too.:)

We all need to lobby Andy for Pyrmids for AE range.....

Ron,

I have had the same thought about lobbying for pyramids, but I quickly dismiss the thought. A 1/30 scale pyramid would be huge! I could not begin to get one through my doorway, much less have enough display space to utilize one! ;)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Ron,

I have to agree with Pat: a pyramid from Ghiza would probably be as big as my house in 1:30 scale. Andy will probably file this idea with producing a 1:30 scale model of the Bismark (35 feet long).

Yea - I thought about the 1/30 size after I posted the email  - but, it is sure fun to dream about - huh guys? What do you think about using the Saracens in a 1800's setting - I think it could work with the sword only foot figures....

Hi Louis,

Ha! :D I was a bit conservative when I said I could not get a 1/30 scale pyramid through my doorway because I did not do the math to determine the exact scaled size of one of the pyramids at Giza. It might help Ron to know that you live in a three story house!

On a more serious note, however, I could see some sort of backdrop that presented the pyramids in the distant background.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I don't see why not. I think they would fit nicely. I often find that buildings or even figures translate well across epochs.

I think you will have to settle for Pat's excellent idea of a distant backdrop depicting the pyramids.

Louis:

Any discussions with Andy on more ROMANS ? Isn't it time to expand the range??

I have not had any conversations with Andy about Romans, specifically. However, Andy just did all those Barbarians in '06, as well as the Roman Wall/gate, so I would expect Romans in fairly short order.

Great - look forward to it.

Check your mail tomorrow - FedEx in route.

I thought that there was supposed to be a release of new Romans by the end of 2006, but...no. Hope that it will be in 2007.

BTW, in your conversation with Mr. Neilson, was it question of SOHK new releases?

Pierre.

Hi Capitolron. Welcome to the forum.

I just started collecting the Crusades. Don't have any K&C yet, but as soon as I get a few dollars gathered up, watch out. I do have a few of the Frontline Crusader Knights, bought them on eBay at a very good price.

I am typing this and watching a television show on the Science Channel called What the Ancients Knew . It’s about the construction of the pyramids. The fellow in the show tells us that it took a bit more than 2.5 million building blocks averaging 3x3x3 foot each for the largest of the three pyramids at Giza. Using 1/30 as a scale standard, that would mean that it would take 833,333 blocks 1.2x1.2x1.2 inches to make a scale pyramid. Not including the casing blocks.

Wikipeida (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pyramid_of_Giza) says that the great pyramid is approximately 481 foot tall and has base dimensions of 756 feet. That translates to 16 foot tall with base dimensions of 25 feet (1/30 scale). I think a three-story house is very appropriate:rolleyes:

And I love HBO's Rome, Deadwood is best, but Rome will do. I am anxious to see Rome's new season. I just hope that HBO does more Deadwood.

Sorry Pierre. We didn't discuss Streets of Hong Kong. That doesn't mean there won't be any, it just didn't come up during our conversation.

Ron,

Thanks for the cool calendar, mousepad and flyers on your excellent 1:1 scale collectibles. However, even if I could afford a Leopard, I don't think it would fit in my garage!
