Hi Michael,
Believe me, I know all about aging eyes. This getting old thing is getting old, as they say. It seems that something else starts to ache or not work as well as it used to almost every week these days. Anyway, I searched and searched for 54mm arrows, but couldn't find anything that was at all acceptable, so I had to figure out a way to make my own. It's a very tedious job to make them. That's why I have so few made at this point, but I'll make more when I put the diorama on a board and make the terrain. I only put feathers on two (opposing) sides of the arrow, but I think that looks pretty good, actually. I've also been making a few spears, using a thin copper rod and white putty. I couldn't find spears either. There are plenty of swords, helmets and shields to find though, from model companies such as Andrea. They require painting though. To make the spears, I put a clump of white putty on the end of the rod and then, after it hardens, keep widdling it and shaping it, using sharp tiny cutting devices, sand paper and a tiny file. Lastly, I paint the spear point and handle. It's difficult to keep the spear point from cracking off at the tip. Talk about tedious! Oh well, I'm actually getting decent results. It would be nice if King & Country would come out with a pack of extra weapons and shields for use in dioramas, just like Marx and other companies used to include in some of their playsets.
