Guys - I know that you are the best WWII information source ever
So, whom else would I ask for some help? ;)

The boyz need information about the colour scheme of the amphibious jeep GPA, the US army version, the Marines one and any Winter version.

Anyone? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Ana

Ana, I'm more into German equipment but pending better opinions from US experts: I believe most of the GPA's had very similar color schemes to the ordinary jeep, the majority being the stock standard US army green.

I have seen several contemporary photos of GPAs with one foot dark bands painted across about every two feet over the green. However they all seemed to be in service with other allies such as the Brits and Canadians. In fact the Vitesse diecast model company produced two nice GPA models under their Victoria brand in 1/43 scale. The US version was the standard green color and the other (a British GPA at Normandy I think) had those almost black oblique bands. The problem of course is that most photos of WWII equipment was in black and white, and current colors used on models are at best good interpretations of the original colors.

Hopely some of our members will be able to come up with some nice color schemes for the US forces you mentioned. Meanwhile here's a handy link to actual color schemes of WWII: http://www.ww2incolor.com/gallery/ww2incolor
