CSN Banshee (2 Viewers)

Just one quick note of interest, The Malvern became the Flagship of Porter's blockading squadron. Also most blockade runners were painted white or light gray so they would blend in with fog.

Were any of these sister ships to the R E Lee? The tip about the white is good I will keep that in mind.

i dont know about the sister ship thing. Hope the pictures were helpful and good luck on the project!

Captain those were great period shots. I did find a shot of the RE Lee. Still no Overhead view.

Had a busy weekend. Got an awful lot done on the ship.

Hi Vamp,

Wow! What an impressive job you are doing! Your modeling skills are remarkable! I both appreciate and enjoy seeing the projects on which you are working. If it were possible for me to do so, I would award you a "bite of approval!" ;)

Keep up the great work!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Looking good Vamp, will you being adding guns or will it set sail unprotected ?

Another great job..........now we have:

VAMP'S SHIP BUILDING EMPORIUM!

:eek::D:):p

Another nifty piece of work there from the cloaked one !!! Very nice KV.

PS I noticed you have a couple of Indian recipe books, can't beat a good curry :p :D :D :D

Nice job..KV...I should have sawed my first ship in 1/2 and extended it, as you did yours...I never thought about it..Great idea. Michael

Hi Guys and thanks for all the kind comments. I had a blast working on this. I have yet to fill the hull in. Have a couple ideas for that.

I do the biting around here Pat!

4th, As the RE Lee was a smuggling ship it was not supposed to have guns mounted. But being that I like to buck the system we may see some Gatling guns at least.

I love Indian Food BF!

Michael, You totally inspired me! I did screw up but will survive it. This boat is almost 24 inches long and did you see the masts? I am going to do the full rigging as it appears in the drawings. I really enjoyed doing the sails and rigging. I had to try hard not to finish the rigging because there is still a great deal of work to do. The model is really compressed. I threw in as much detail as I could. Still need room for the sailors. To do it justice it needs to be four feet long! Maybe some day there will be a Boat Building Emporium! If any one wants one let me know.

When I finish my ACW Tinclad version of my sternwheeler, we can photoshop our 2 ships in combat ,with my 4 Parrot guns sinking your runner..Maybe, you should leave your ship in half, for that...:D..Michael

The party of the first part is nuts! The party of the second part likes the first part of the idea of the first party. But distinctly feels disinclined to acquiesce the the second part of the first partys' idea
;);)

Vamp, I told you to never sail unarmed, I have a couple of Borfors that you can borrow;);)

Where, oh where did that Banshee go....The Union has great shipbuilding facilities....The upper deck section showing gunports for 4 Parrots ( 2 to a side ) and 2 forward guns, that would swivel to their respective side openings....Michael

That is strange... I thought the Banshee was a fictional boat. Cool though. Odd that the R E Lee and the Banshee are very much alike.

This was an active blockade runner, until captured by the Union..It was an advanced design for its time. The blue navy put some guns on it and put it into active service. Was sold after the war and lasted as a freighter till 1888 or so....Michael....
