DAK only (1 Viewer)

Nor me , I'm already on board with Stalingrad :wink2: But due to these excellent DAK products I may have to divert some of my WW II funds to cherry pick this line . Regards Gebhard

Personally,I like FL Stalingrad... Which is my main collecting interest .... Matt says there is much more subject matter to come for the Stalingrad Series.....However I will be getting into the DAK line up as well....Those DAK Panzer III's and figures look fantastic...I doubt I will be able to resist especially as this line develops.....Just too good to pass up.

Sometimes ago, I stopped collecting everything except FL's Stalingrad series, expecting something I couldn't resist. And that something is now existing. So, yes I will collect DAK (and will continue Stalingrad).

Who will collect WW2 because of DAK range

There's a book suggestion I have for people who want to get introduced to the DAK. To me it reads like the old Stalingrad classic "Enemy at the Gates" and is a good introductory fast flowing book-based on many interviews. It is "Rommel's War in Africa" by Wolf Heckmann. It's the Konecky & Konecky printing which I picked up in a bargain bin years ago, but Matt just caused me to dust it off & give it a read. It's well endowed with maps, some which have a 3-D aspect to them which makes the dessert passes pop out at you in significance & simplicity. The author is a pacifist and occasionally throws a jab out at Rommel, but it's rare & doesn't color his work the way say, Paul Carell's enthusiasm for all things German and/or Nazi colors his.

A funny anecdote comes from an Italian doctor who was present during the arrival of the DAK. He mentioned that the Italian army required at least 3 days to unload a division & another 10 or more to organize. The DAK and their Germanic efficiency came in the middle of the night and was parading around Tripoli by morning.

Also interesting is that the first shots fired were between a German recon outfit with motorcycles & 232 armored cars & a Brit screen with Marmon Harringtons. I wonder if the 232s were still painted in grey. DAK uniforms hadn't arrived yet.

I will definately collect the DAK range. DAK/British 8th Army are at the top of my list of WWII interest. In fact, I just placed an order for the PzIII and all the figures. I already own the DAK SdKfz 232.

Also second Blowtorch's recommendation on Wolf Heckmann' book. Worth the price if you can find it!

I will stick to collecting only the AWI range . . . although I must say the DAK range is exceptional looking.
