Merry Christmas to all. Everything is ready for the holidays here and I am pushing away from the bench for a few days to enjoy the family.
I have been working on a new winter shelf scenic off and on between the W. Britain work and I thought I would share a few images with you.
This winter scene was designed to be useful with many periods, and the backdrop was painted to extend the 'forest' far into the winter landscape.
Here is an image of the backdrop when I finally finished it up the other night.

So here is the 'Dashing through the Snow' part of the posting.
I have had these Irish Brigade figures laying around since 1998...the first time around with W. Britain. Tonight was the first time I had a chance to use them for something. Maybe I ought to build a simple Fredricksburg field with a backdrop to display them on, as I have a couple of sets with add ons. As my dad would say... "another five minute job".

...And here is the "But Baby it's Cold Outside!" part of the posting.
My lonely K&C GI stands near the edge of the woods with his BAR thinking..."yah baby...it's cold outside...really cold!"

And the last image for the night for those of you that live in the North like we do.
Two Hundred and forty eight years ago, about a mile from where I am sitting right now, some French militiaman stood in the woods thinking..."bébé c'est froid à l'extérieur!"

Have a happy New Year Everyone!

Would you consider selling the backdrops? I wonder if you could copy them and then have them printed out. Very nice work.

Great job Ken! I would also be interested in purchasing a scanned copy backdrop.
Semper Fi!

Hi Ken,
I too would be interested in purchasing scanned and printed copies of the original backdrops. They are simply awesome.

By any chance have you thought of painting a background that included earthworks or a stockade?

By the way, can you tell us the new figures for Britains American Revolution and Museum series?

Merry Christmas,
Benjamin

Always a pleasure to view your wonderful work. Strictly "eye candy".

The French militiaman made me cold just looking at him. Very evocative and affective. Great work. -- lancer

Your backdrop really pushes the scene further back. Your work is delightful to look at on the site or in person. I enjoy the artist's touch that you provide.

Depending on price, I think a backdrop like that would be very nice to have for an Ardennes scene.

Hoping you will seriously consider adding backdrops to your product line.

I keep coming back to look at this diorama. It is truly a superb display of craftmanship.

Thanks!
We just finished another winter diorama for a client and although we shipped it yesterday, I took some images of it as a record. Ericka or I will post a few images of it this weekend for you to take a look at. With all of the snow we have had around here this year, it is easy to find 'inspiration'.

Hi There!
Sorry for the delay in posting these. I have been busy as usual!
We had a request to duplicate one of the Ardennes dioramas that we sold at the Chicago show for a client. Before I shipped it we couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures as a record (and as Joe would say...to play a little).
No two of these are ever exactly alike... which is kind of nice for us when building them.
Here is a picture of two of the three foxholes with removable covers on the 11" X 28" shelf diorama. I have a few of the ONWTC figures I sculpted defending the position... although the holes were made large enough to accommodate the K&C US figures in winter gear too.

Here is a closer picture of the defenders. I placed this in front of my other winter diorama with the hand painted backdrop for some depth. A week ago it pretty much looked like this around here. The last few days have turned the landscape into a grey and muddy mess, although it is Michigan so I am expecting more snow before spring.
