David McCullough Dies At 89 (1 Viewer)

I enjoyed many of his books, but like Stephen Ambrose you had to read them with a grain of salt. They were mostly populist takes on American history similar to the old Disney movies about Davy Crockett etc. Nothing wrong with that per se but that kind of history has its limitations. And I'm guessing a lot of grad students did much of his research and writing. Nevertheless, he brought a lot of readers to certain historical subjects.
