Well spoken - Rob! And whatever we like it or not, war always makes casulties.

Dead or wounded figures are therefore also a part of the history made in dios.

And as one of your fellow countrymen once said:"Those who would ignore history are doomed to repeat its mistakes!" Yes! Good old Winston. :)

Thank you,i agree.

I'd like to see Andy revisit the D Day dead and wounded set. This was a great release and would really beneift from the accuracy and realism of todays K&C quality.

Brad is just stating his view, theres no aggro here at all. Each to their own i say,for me if you want realism you got to have dead and wounded, but thats just me.:)

Rob

Absolutely agree; no aggro here. They do make more realistic dios, however, I'll grant you that :)

I would like to comment about dead/wounded figures along three lines:

1) K&C has very tastefully and I think respectfully portrayed dead/wounded soldiers from all sides and eras. They are not grotesquely twisted figures, missing limbs, decomposing or covered in blood n guts. The only exception that comes to mind is the decapitation in the Crusader line.

2) Whether you like them or not they should be produced and let the free market decide if they are viable.

3) Some of my absolute favourite pieces are ones where a buddy is helping a wounded comrade to safety like WS084, BBA022, and MG003 for example.

Cheers

Isn't that what I was I doing?;):D His supplimental comment was a bit unnecessary but it certainly didn't bother me.;)

I didn't see the "supplemental" comment as unnecessary but to each his own.

I have to agree with Brad on this one. I do have a couple of figures on one of

my diorama's, but I preferr wounded figures, dead it a bit much. I also did not

vote as I would not like to encourage any of the manufacters to produce sets

like this.

I need some Russian WWII casulities or prisoners, to create a real feel for my diorama. How many of you out there like the Eastern Front also?

Love the Eastern Front. I have all of the K&C modern Russian figures and armour (a T-34/85). Many of the German WS series armour has camo which could have been Eastern Front (Hummel, captured T-34, Truck mounted 88, Panzer II, Stug, summer Panther. But I am short of Russian armour and summer russian troops.

We could probably use some dead animals as well

Bill W

Sorry Bill

... before we can get to animal dead, we dont even have enough of animals to start with.

Warfare, at least until the late 20th century involved beasts of burden in many roles. The most obvious ... being mounts for cavalry, which is fairly represented in most K&C ranges. However, there is a broad under-representation of animals in transport & logistic roles.

This being the Chinese Year of the Ox .. I had hoped to see a K&C SL of an ox drawn artillery piece. :) .. still we have a few months to go.

I'd be in, but it appears First Legion is going to be the East Front company

Having watched a real decapitation, K&C was quite restrained with the head (to their credit)

I think the figures add to my diorama's - French casualties when taking the charge from the Scots Greys and those on my D-day one I am working on.

But ... to say "they are also a reminder in our hobby of exactly what we are talking about and the huge price paid for our freedom" That for me is a huge leap...a Bridge Too Far ;):D

But then I do not understand also how people can remove sand from, say Omaha Beach and put it with toy soldiers - that is sacred ground where guys spilt their guts for mine and others freedom. Tell a vet that you did that and see what they said...

IMHO - Dead and Wounded Sets are very important for who make dioramas with their collections. I am totally bewildered on how you can have battle scenes or men in action without causalities ?

War is War - no matter how much PC make-up you want to put out there - there will be causalities and death. To ignore it - is simply wrong.

Great thing about the hobby - you can buy what you like and ignore what you don't ! ;)

I said this purely on my own behalf.I have dead and wounded in my collection because its real, its what happened and people suffered for our freedom. In my view its absurd to ignore this side of realism but get upset if a Tank is painted the wrong colour.

We all choose remember and pay tribute in our own way,and I would not judge people on this forum.I have spoken to many Normandy vets both on the beaches and in London and in my experience they fully understand that hundreds of people every year take sand from the beaches as their own personal reminder of a sacred place, most of these tough old guys are not so over sensitive to take this as an insult but more a tribute, again this is MY experience of the guys i have talked to.
